For those on facebook that are connected to Mrs. Ferd (you know who you are), you have already seen this.
But for others here, I thought I would share.
About a year ago, while returning from a Drs. Visit with our youngest son my wife stopped at a kids store. While there a lady stopped and asked about Jack. He was hooked up to a heart monitor at the time. They talked for a while as this lady has a child with serious medical issues as well.
Long story short the lady told Mrs. Ferd about an organization called A Wish with Wings. We sat on the information for a year but earlier this year, Mrs. Ferd made contact. After filling out some paperwork and submitting Drs. reports, they called us and wanted to meet Jack. They had asked in the paperwork if there was some vacation that would be special to Jack and we thought Sea World would be nice. It’s only a few hours away by car and not a big trip albeit out of our budget considering the medical bills we collect.
Well, after spending some time with these wonderful people they suggested a trip to Disney World! We were shocked. Honestly I thought this would be a long drown out process of meeting us, discussing it and then making a decision. Instead of that, we spent an hour with them and the end result is an all expenses paid trip to Orlando. We will fly there, they pay for a rental car, take care of car seats for the boys and all the other needs we have related to Jack etc.
We will be staying at a place called One World Village. This is on the Disney World property and is itself a 70 acre villa with its own water part and other amenities. Our food is paid for, our gas money is taken care of, we will have passes to all the Disney theme parks, plus passes to Kennedy Space Center, and Lego Land. There are tons of other things we could do but simply cannot fit into the week that we will be there. We met with them on Tuesday, the trip was booked on Wednesday!
It is truly a trip of a lifetime. It is something we could never give Jack ourselves. God has blessed us. These wonderful people at A Wish with Wings have blessed us. It has been a long journey with Jack and we have more to come but God is always there pointing the way and letting us know he has not forgotten.
We also had a checkup with Jacks Dr. It was the first “good” report we have had in a while. Last year his thyroid levels started creeping up. At that time, the Dr was pretty sure we would be doing surgery this year. Due to the physiology of Jacks heart, he was preparing us for a pacemaker. You can imagine what it means to have a 4 year old on a pacemaker for the rest of his life…
It seems the thyroid levels have leveled off and are back in normal range, so we can put of surgery for another year. The Dr. is pleased and seems to believe another year will give us the growth we need to see to avoid the pacemaker.
I know a lot of you guys have been with us from the beginning and have prayed a lot of prayers for Jack. It is much appreciated and a real comfort to us. Jack is an active little guy and you would never know he had the first problem just looking at him. We truly are blessed!

This is marvelous news Ferd, I didn't know anything about your son having a heart condition, but I am rejoicing with you today over this blessing in your lives!
I was just today thinking of a song written by one of the sweetest pastors I ever had, Bro. Don Johnson wrote this song called "I Can't Complain" .
No matter what situations life bring us, isn't it wonderful to walk with Jesus, and even though there are "hard days and sad days" .... I still can't complain!
I haven't heard of this org but it sounds identical to Make A Wish. Congrats!
Isn't it amazing how efficient private organizations are that do these types of things! Just imagine if the Feds had a program which attempted to duplicate it and the nightmare both in paperwork and costs that would be involved.
This is fantastic news! I am so happy for you guys. This is going to be an incredible trip for Jack and all of you.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
