I like to think that he was somewhat senile in making that video supporting Obamacare. Many times elderly celebrities are taken advantage of my family members or business associates looking to use their clout. I am not saying this is the case here but I am hoping it is so my thoughts of Andy Griffith won't be tarnished!

I'll always remember Andy in his most famous role, that of Harry Broderick who sent the ship Salvage 1 into space!

Believe it or not I actually remember this show and watched it faithfully. It was a stretch of the imagination for a guy to launch space capsules from the junkyard he owned but it was still Andy Griffith.
Here is a bit of trivia. Did you know that when Andy decided to end The Andy Griffith Show it was #1 in the ratings?
Andy thought he was big stuff (his own words in an interview I saw) and that he would have a lot of movie offers and transition to a big movie star. He did sign a movie deal but nothing seemed to really work so in 1970 he came to television in a show "Headmaster". He played the head of a school and the stories were supposed to blend humor with messages. I am assuming about morality, etc. It was a dismal failure and after 14 episodes he switched gear and in Jan 1971 came back to TV with "The NEW Andy Griffith Show". In it he was a different character than Andy Taylor and Lee Merriwether played his wife. He also had kids on this show. Although closer in tone and feel to the original show than Headmaster was it did not have good ratings and ended after just 10 episodes. It is hard to capture lightning in a bottle once must less twice!

Re: Andy Griffith - Dead at 86
Did you guys see where Andy Griffith died at 7 am and was buried at 11:30 am THE SAME DAY???? That is really strange. The statement said it was "at the family's request". I wonder if this was Andy's wishes or the family was just in a hurry to be somewhere.
