Re: Picking Up A New Computer Tomorrow

I'm a pure Intel man through and through, but when buck came to dollar, AMD was the way to go. I need to expand myself anyways.

The computer's awesome by the way. It zooms. The real test is when I get home with it and hook it up to my aircard. A step above dialup, but not much of one.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Speaking of video editing, I just bought Sony's Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 software on YOUR recommendation. Can't wait for Amazon to deliver it!

Is that like a "lite" version or the whole thing?

It is sort of a home version of their pro software. CC1 can tell you about the differences, but this seems to do everything I need.

Very respectable. I looooved my quad core, but its a desktop and my place doesnt really have room for a desktop. I'm pretty sure the only thing it needs to fix it is a power supply. But the equipment it's running, the power supply I need would run me at least a hundred.

I can understand why. In my opinion, XP is the most well rounded operating system in Microsoft history. Most definitely one of the easiest to work on at least.

Re: Picking Up A New Computer Tomorrow

I might be getting a new laptop in the very near future (and broadband, instead of this slow dialup). But for years now,..I have been putting together older computers (my "newest" one is a Dell Optiplex gx270--p4--2.8Ghz--1G ram--160G hard drive,.... from 2004).

I "triple-boot" Windows XP,...Slackware Linux 13.37,...and Racy Puppy Linux 5.2.2.

One of my old PIII computers runs windows 2000 with games for the grandson (he loves it).

(PS: I have also run Mandriva Linux, Linux Mint, Vector Linux, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, OpenSuse, FreeBSD, PCBSD, Mepis Linux, AntiX, DreamLinux, Debian, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc) What can I say? I love old computers and Linux.
