Margie, My husband and I are having a kitchen trash war.
My habit - When the trash gets to the top of the container, I pull out the bag, set it on the floor, gather all the trash from the other containers around the house, dump them all in the kitchen bag, tie up the bag and put it in the trash receptacle outside. He then takes the trash can to the curb twice a week.
His habit - When the trash gets to the top of the bag, he continues to add more trash by pulling up the sides of the bag. There is no foundation around the remaining sides to insure it will stay up.
Now, I'm thinking that what is going to happen is that the trash is going to eventually fall on the floor and I will have to pick it up.
I asked him why he doesn't just take the bag out of the container. He said that's a dumb way to do it.
So, right now, the trash is full, with remaining sides of the bag up. I'm going to see what he does with the bag. Last night he added something else and said, "Look." He then pulled up the sides of the bag. Little jerk.
I've never waited so see what will happen, but the war is on- I'm leaving the bag to see what the end results will be.
