I tend to agree that a smackdown is coming. Although, Ryan crushed Obama at the White House Summit on healthcare in February 2010. Romney wasn't able, in this debate, to totally crush Obama on facts. He just showed that game is on - the only reason he won the debate. That's all the Republicans and people voting for Romney wanted to see. Aside from the facts, they just wanted him to stand up and fight - sheeple.

Re: 1st Presidential Debate 9PM EST

Will your vote give liberty a fighting chance, or not?
Despite the GOP leadership’s compromising laxity, Obama’s words, actions and policies roused strong resistance and opposition among Americans at large. It became clear that Obama would face a very tough re-election battle. So what did the GOP’s elitist faction leadership do? They engineered (that’s a polite way of saying rigged) the nomination for someone whose whole career suggests that he is likely to push forward along the same socialist path. (And please, don’t cite Romney’s success as a businessman as proof that he’s a conservative. Falling prey to that fallacious reasoning, we have to accept the conclusion that George Soros does not promote socialist elitism.) In this respect there is a salient difference between Obama and Romney. Thanks to the GOP label and the undeserved support it still garners from conservatives, Romney is less likely to encounter strong, successful resistance as he implements the socialist agenda. He may take us to socialism without a fight.

Hear, hear!
And Ben Swann is correct - "Neither man put forth a specific plan that stops spending more than we take in year to year. The truth is the deficit problem our country faces is not really one that can be solved politically. Meaning, there is no way to fix it without anyone getting hurt. The courage it will take to fix our spending problem will mean pain. That pain is coming one way or another."

Not to rain on the parade, but does anyone remember the first Reagan-Mondale debate?

I don't really remember it but was talked about a lot before the Obama/Romney debate. Evidently old Ray Gun didn't do so well against Mondane but then more than made up for it next time.

Re: 1st Presidential Debate 9PM EST
Romney was better.
But according to all the poles Obama is going to win.
Romney's message of lower taxes is not gonna click with 47% of Americans who pay no taxes.
