In a Nation of Children, Santa Claus Wins
Great monologue by the one and only, Rush:
Quote:
RUSH LIMBAUGH: Now, everybody is jumping on Romney's chain today, getting in his chili. Look, he may have not been the most optimal candidate, but he's a fine man. He would have been great for this country. Mitt Romney and his family would have been the essence of exactly what this country needs. But what was Romney's recipe? Romney's recipe was the old standby: American route to success, hard work. That gets sneered at. I'm sorry. In a country of children where the option is Santa Claus or work, what wins? And say what you want, but Romney did offer a vision of traditional America. In his way, he put forth a great vision of traditional America, and it was rejected. It was rejected in favor of a guy who thinks that those who are working aren't doing enough to help those who aren't. And that resonated.
The Obama campaign was about small stuff. War on Women, binders, Big Bird, this kind of stuff. The Romney campaign was about big things, was about America. It's mind-boggling to go through these exit polls. You want to hear a statistic that is somewhat surprising? Romney received two and a half million fewer votes than McCain did. Now, who would have called that? Who in the world would have? I think Obama's vote tally was down ten million from 2008, and we still lost. We lost 50 to 48 nationally. We were not able to build a turnout model that looked like 2004. Very puzzling.
Something else. Just stream of consciousness here. The usual suspects are out, and they're saying, "Rush, we gotta reach out now to the Hispanics and reach out to the minorities, blacks." Okay, let me remind you of something. Just ask you a question. And we will be getting your phone calls of course today, you weigh in on this, 800-282-2882 is the number. Let me take you back to the Republican convention. We had Suzanne Martinez, female Hispanic governor, New Mexico. We had Condoleezza Rice, African-American, former secretary of state. Both of those people imminently qualified, terrifically achieved. They have reached the pinnacles of their profession.

So true.

Hello, Rushbo! You had a sorry candidate that no one wanted because he was a flip-flopper and no one was sure what he would do once in office. A Democrat could pull that off, but a Republican never can. Hello! What a dweeb. Keep your gig going, baby.
My husband asked the Hispanics at his workplace their main concern about Romney. They said they didn't vote for him over the self-deportation comment.

Light, Barry openly admitted to being a daily pot smoker for a big part of his youth. Do you want to go there?

You can't argue with facts: welfare recipients increased 32% under Obama, a whopping 71% increase for food stamps! 47 million Americans get food stamps. The work requirement in both programs was lifted by the Obama admin, regardless of how they try to lie about it. Its true.
Who would those people vote for you think?

Probably someone who could answer the question concerning jobs, unlike this political and empty talking point by Romney to this young man wanting a job after he graduates college. Notice Romney never told him how he would accomplish that only that he would do it. That's empty rhetoric and a promise.
Quote:
QUESTION: Mr. President, Governor Romney, as a 20-year-old college student, all I hear from professors, neighbors and others is that when I graduate, I will have little chance to get employment. What can you say to reassure me, but more importantly my parents, that I will be able to sufficiently support myself after I graduate?
ROMNEY: Thank you, Jeremy. I appreciate your -- your question, and thank you for being here this evening and to all of those from Nassau County that have come, thank you for your time. Thank you to Hofstra University and to Candy Crowley for organizing and leading this -- this event.
Thank you, Mr. President, also for being part of this -- this debate.
Your question -- your question is one that's being asked by college kids all over this country. I was in Pennsylvania with someone who had just graduated -- this was in Philadelphia -- and she said, "I've got my degree. I can't find a job. I've got three part- time jobs. They're just barely enough to pay for my food and pay for an apartment. I can't begin to pay back my student loans."
So what we have to do is two things. We have to make sure that we make it easier for kids to afford college.
ROMNEY: And also make sure that when they get out of college, there's a job. When I was governor of Massachusetts, to get a high school degree, you had to pass an exam. If you graduated in the top quarter of your airlines, we gave you a John and Abigail Adams scholarship, four years tuition free in the college of your choice in Massachusetts, it's a public institution.
I want to make sure we keep our Pell grant program growing. We're also going to have our loan program, so that people are able to afford school. But the key thing is to make sure you can get a job when you get out of school. And what's happened over the last four years has been very, very hard for America's young people. I want you to be able to get a job.
I know what it takes to get this economy going. With half of college kids graduating this year without a college -- excuse me, without a job. And without a college level job, that's just unacceptable.
And likewise you've got more and more debt on your back. So more debt and less jobs. I'm going to change that. I know what it takes to create good jobs again. I know what it takes to make sure that you have the kind of opportunity you deserve. And kids across this country are going to recognize, we're bringing back an economy.
It's not going to be like the last four years. The middle-class has been crushed over the last four years, and jobs have been too scarce. I know what it takes to bring them back, and I'm going to do that, and make sure that when you graduate -- when do you graduate?
QUESTION: 2014.
ROMNEY: 2014. When you come out in 2014, I presume I'm going to be president. I'm going to make sure you get a job. Thanks Jeremy. Yeah, you bet.

Re: In a Nation of Children, Santa Claus Wins
People want something to stand FOR. I don't believe given a consistent candidate with a well laid out plan, that people wouldn't prefer the dignity of a job. Where we stand and with what both candidates had to offer, Obama offered the cushion for uncertain times.
This is the reality.
Quote:
Obama's path to to victory went straight through the republican primaries
As the candidates whittled away at each other, tripping over their own gaffes, flip flops, and past indiscretions, there was one with a record of consistency, a small government, constitution loving, family man. The GOP would not nominate him.
When the dust cleared there were two men left standing to compete for the chance to compete with president Obama. One of those men agreed with Obama on almost every issue: The drug wars, the drone attacks, NDAA, the so called patriot act, Keynesian economics, the morality of taxation and the effectiveness of central planning. The other offered such a stark contrast to Obama, that Democrats were forming groups to support him. He had the young vote, the antiwar vote, the military vote, all key demographics that led to Obama’s reelection, but the GOP did not nominate Ron Paul, They nominated Mitt Romney, and Obama won the election on that day.

Yes, and somehow that's superior to prescription drug abuse. Illegal drug use = adds to the cool factor; prescription drug abuse = unforgivable.
Perfect logic.
