To Elder Epley, Bro. Black's former church is LIBERAL.
To me, they were really CONSERVATIVE.
Wonder what they are to God?

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Well, Elder Epley one time said something like:
Everyone is someone's liberal and someone else's conservative or something like that. Maybe he will give us the exact quote.

Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns
This is what Epley says about every conservative church that is cursed with a whoremongering pastor.

Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns
Conservative: uncut hair on women held in the highest esteem, as well as no make up, no jewelry, no pants on women. No shorts, no facial hair, no cinema (officially---many members would sneak and go to movies).
Liberal: everyone has tvs
Doctrinally: 3 steppers
Role of pastor: near godlike authority; unquestioned

Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns
I've found that it is indeed the unwritten rules that got me. Every time I thought I 'lined up my life' to one unwritten rule...i've found another one awaiting me to submit to. It became a never-ending ordeal.
One thing for sure...it caused me to open my bible and read for myself what is required by God.

This is not so sadly there have been conservative churches where the pastor committed immorality. I wish it wasn't so but it is. Conservatives are NOT exempt from moral failures.
