Re: A thought on tithing

Condoning gossip despite what the Bible exposes a legalistic spirit. You made it clear your right to free speech supercedes what the Bible says about gossip. You can't scripturally defend your support of sticking yuor nose into business that doesn't concern you. Now you try to trivialize the messenger with innuendos. You are not being truthful when you say you laugh at my post, because you've stated numerous times my posts offends you. Too late to backpedal. You're called out. Not chosen, but called out.

Your last paragraph is a desparate attempt to trivialize my successful rebuttals against your reasons for encouraging unhealthy conversations about another congregation's church problems. I backed up my views with scripture, you back your support of gossip with the Bill of Rights. It's creepy to think the Constitution trumps what the Bible says about gossip. Your defense of gossip can apply to homosexuality and abortion. It's not a big jump to make that conclusion.

I wonder how well you know your Bible if you think what I wrote doesn't ring true. I pointed out verses and Biblical concepts right from the Holy Bible. One has to wonder about the spiritual mentality of a person who believes someone is creepy for believing the Bible.

I object to anybody calling anybody else names like trash or anything you can think up to condescend anybody else...something you do well. You telling other people not to gossip while you condesend people is like the pot calling the kettle black.

In fact I think most of your opinions are hilarious...and I do laugh at them. You are like a loose cannon...shooting your mouth off at everybody who disagrees with you.

The reason why I would not want to be mentored by you is because of your attitude. It stinks. There is something quite creepy about you. Much of what you write just does not ring true.

I wonder if you even know your bible because you never post chapter and verse. Don't worry about my spiritual knowledge...you are sorely in need to mind your own business like you tell all of us to do.

And oh yes...I do laugh at your posts. Just because I was offended at your name calling doesn't mean I don't laugh at your posts. I laugh at a lot of offensive statements you make because those statements are so absurd...some of them so bizarre. My husband likewise thinks you are goofy.

You are creepy because you falsely accuse me of sticking my nose into other church matters. You go back to that thread and you will be very hard pressed to find where I voiced harsh opinion about that situation. In fact, you contributed more contention in that thread than anybody there. I stand by my statement in that those who protest so rudely like you did, there is something in your life that you fear will be made known.

Successful rebuttals? Only in your mind.

You talk bible, but you do not back what you say up with chapter and verse. You just say it's somewhere in there. Start giving chapter and verse when you talk bible and maybe you might change somebody's mind.

You think that the Constitution is creepy because it gives us the bill of rights to free speech? That creepy constitution is giving you the freedom to castigate people right here on these forums and to state your beliefs. That creepy Bill of Rights of free speech gives Christians the right to freedom of preaching and teaching in this great country. Without that free speech clause, you could not post your thoughts and opinions about anything either. That free speech clause allowed you to post nasty statements to Barb here. You could have very well just minded your own business too and not go there. Don't lecture me about that 157 + page thread that you continue to go and find fault there among others. Finding fault equally is YOU poking YOUR nose into what other people say. You are not superior over anybody here. Please understand that.

I am going to ask you politely right now to just stay away from me. Don't respond to my posts and don't post anything to start up contention again like you just did in this thread.

If you do not like my opinion posted... ignore it. I certainly will post nothing more about you. Don't be an internet stalker....that's creepy.

The bill of rights affords Christians the privilege to gossip. Got it.

Almost nothing remains which follows the pattern of the New Testament church either in organization or power. Simply look around you.
The so-called "hirelings" you speak of, many served for nothing or next to nothing for a long time before they were able to draw a full time salary. Just because you only see what they do once or twice a week doesn't mean they aren't working daily for the church or the cause. If you have a problem with the Church and the leaders of the Church, take it up with God---it was His idea.

There is more right with the church than wrong with the church.

The real church allows it's members to freely minister as they're called to minister in preaching, teaching and helps, to name a few. Only the Romanist system would promote the idea of a hireling paid to perform duties and responsibilities given to the whole church and place debt upon the people to support such an ungodly system.

The Romanist system has twisted the church into the 'church' and sadly most Christians follow this 'church' Romanist system, shirking their duties and callings, hiring others to do what they should be doing themselves.
Freely teach and preach without any accountability I suppose to church leadership? Do you believe in church leadership? Do you believe in submission to a spiritual leader?

Re: A thought on tithing

If you read the my posts, you'll see scriptures and Biblical precedent mentioned consistently. I exposed the weakeness of your "logic" which the Constitution supercedes the Bible. That fact you put the Constitution above the Bible is bizarre and creepy. You state you had a right to gossip about another congregation's misfortune.

Now you drag someone else into the discussion who you claim agrees with you like that is supposed to validate your sneaky attacks.

If you read the so called offending response to Barb in context, like 90 percent of the other readers did, you would realize I was pointing out how illogical your assertion that people have a right to talk about other people, even if the Bible says something different. Anyone can use your logic to codone homosexuality and abortion. Deliberately manipulating the sequence of events is another sign your argument is weak.

If my comments were as harsh as you claim, AFF admin would have kicked me off the forum. I haven't had any privliges revoked.

You don't dictate who can or can't respond to your posts. A discussion board doesn't work that way.

Church leadership is necessary. I would ask you what should be a simple question. Without a parade of OT verses referencing either the failed Levitical priesthood or such, can you show me the NT scriptures that teach or set up this "submission" to a single spiritual leader in the NT church? Where is this modern model of church leadership outlined in the scriptures clearly?

Well houston, when I made that argument, a person here says he is concerned about people who think the Bill of Rights and the privilege of free speech supersedes the bible.

According to that logic, we should never discuss any church or it's activities.

House churches. Many elders don't require tithes and choose to work for a living as Paul did.

Bro, Paul was not referring to tithe in 1 Cor 9. He was referring to the levites being allowed to keep the remains of the sin offering and burnt offering for themselves.

1 Cor 9
13 Don’t you know that those who serve in the temple get their food from the temple, and that those who serve at the altar share in what is offered on the altar?
14 In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel.

Only the Levites were allowed to partake of the burnt offerings and sin offerings (Leviticus 7). In the same way, ministers of the gospel make their living from the support of the church.

But this has nothing to do with tithe.

In the case of tithe, BOTH the general people and levites partook of the tithe of crops and produce (Deut 14).

Note: Tithe was not allowed to be currency. It MUST be crops and produce (Deut 14)
