I bought my oldest daughter a Samsung android phone for Christmas & she has discovered "texting." I don't think she knows it is actually a phone as well.
The rules we have are, one, she owns it but we control the use of it.
If she gets an attitude or it iterferes with her school or chores--she can lose the use ot it.
Two she can not take it into her room at night alone--that is when it is charged in the living room.
Three, I and her mom know her password to her email & she knows that at anytime that I or mom could check her texts or phone.
She is a good girl & she is quite open with us in sharing stuff & also bringing to our attention something that may seem out of the ordinary.
She went away to the bathroom while she was texting a classmate named Emma who has come to Church.
I picked up the phone and was feeling like having fun.
Her: I have to take the homstay students on a tour.
Me: (who she thinks is Kristin) Well, keep them away from McDonalds.
Her:Why?
Me: They don't use Chicken in the nuggets.
Her: What, I don't get it?
Me: That ain't Chicken in your Chicken chow mein!
Her: I don't get it.
Me: Cat Chow Mein?
Her: Oh, Lol! Yuck!
Kristin comes back & she was trying to convince her it was her dad & Emma was trying convince her it realy was her!
Yup, what fun I'll miss when the kids move out!
She has unlimited talk & text & global text--so she goes at er!
