Walmart Internal E-mails

Folks have been worried about a Wal Mart monopoly, but at least here I am noticing a trend. I live 7 miles from Wal mart, but recently Dollar General opened a store 1 1/2 miles from me. The prices are pretty comparable and although they dont carry the amount of stock that Wally world does, they have started getting probably 20-25% of the business from us that we used to give to wal mart.

DG is targeting areas that are just far enough from Wal Mart to make it convenient for folks not to drive to WM but instead buy what they can at DG. About 7 miles the OTHER side of WM, DG is building another store....essentially bracketing WM with options for the local folk who dont want to drive all the way to WM, and then walk for a mile through the superstore to find a few items. I think it is a positive thing.

I agree. I buy from DG for the very same reasons.

I certainly do not buy any meat from Walmart. I go to Kroger to buy meat and fresh produce when I cannot get to the local meat store to buy my meat.

I go to a local meat store in the middle of no where.

Oddly, Sam's meat is 10x better than Walmart. For groceries, I prefer a grocery store though. Market Street or Whole Foods.

I can't stand Walmart if only because of the trailer trash that seems to fill the place. It is the home of the customer who leaves their carts at their car, even when the cart coral is 10 feet away. SAM's club is MUCH better in that regards. We just got a Costco membership but HATE going their because of their "No Self Defense allowed!" policy. Walmart (and SAMS) allows me to carry in the store. I guess I can basically complain about Walmart and defend them, almost in the same sentence.
