I would like to clear a misconception some have, first of all we do not have the full messages of what Paul told the PHillipian Jailer, it is obvious that they were taught baptism, because the Phillipian Jailer and his family were baptized that same night.
We do not know everything that was discussed by Phillip and the Ethipoam Eunuch for the scriptures only says that they had a long discussion, during which Phillip must have mentioned baptism for the Eunuch asked to be baptized.
The book of Acts covers many years and it only gives a summary of most sermons and discussions, there plenty of times when preaching is done and we are not told a single word of what was spoken.
So arguments from silence are really useless, because there is too many sermons that the book of acts is silent about. Can anyone really tell me exactly word for word, what did Paul preach to the Bereans?
The gospels cover 3 and a half years of Jesus ministry, while the Book of Acts cover many more years than that.
I tried to tell people that in Acts we just have a small peek into the early church, much of what was said remains in obscurity. The sermons that we have are basically small sumaries, not the full sermon.
I am not a great preacher by any means, but most of my sermons are longer than the message that Peter preached at Pentecost, of course his message was better than mine. Just read the sermon of Peter and time it and you will see how short it really is.
Remember that in Ephesus Paul preached all night, can anyone tell me exaclthy what he preached about?
