I think so, and if it isn't being taught from the word does it then become a lie?

Ok, let me ask you this. Do you believe everything the church preaches has to be straight from the bible, or do you believe the god has given the pastor authority to tell the church not to do certain things that are not in the bible so long as they are within reason?

Anyway, my pastor goes on to say that if you believe the lie that charismatics believe you will end up in hell. Well, I was wondering , what if believing in the ideas of holiness as the UPCI puts it is a lie? Would that not send one to hell as well?

thoughts?
What is the lie Charismatics believe? If you are a UPC Minister Im surprised you were not trained in "standards". Holiness is the entire separation of ones life to the Lord Jesus Christ.

His "standard" is "Be perfect even as the Father in Heaven is perfect". Whatever is taught in the New Testament applies to the saints. A great part of Christian living is to be "pure in heart".

Heart issues are much more wrenching to deal with than dress issues. That does not mean there are no dress issues. Just stay with the New Testament. When they teach from the OT and it is accepted then to be consistent we would have to put ourselves under ANYTHING in the law of Moses.

The scriptures are pretty standard, no pun intended, they don't change and everyone knows them. I agree - FAKE!

You're a licensed minister and you are NOT versed in matters of holiness?

Re: Beleiving in a Lie

1 Peter 1:13-16

New King James Version (NKJV)

13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance;
15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

1 Peter 2:9

New King James Version (NKJV)

9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

ABSOLUTLY NOT!!! God has laid down ALL that we need in His Word, if someone is preaching something that isnt in there then they need to check themselves! God dosn't tell one person something is a sin and not another person. Sin is sin across the board and God isn't giving out new revelation daily!!! For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. Psalm 119:89
