Re: To tithe or not to tithe?

Jesus was talking to the Pharisees, who were under the law to tithe.

Sorry but tithe has nothing to do with the law.

Re: To tithe or not to tithe?

Why is this tithing thing even an issue?
Everybody in their right mind knows
that it takes money to spread the gospel.
It also takes money to operate churches.

Just give what you feel God is telling you to give.
If He put 30 dollars in your heart, give 30 dollars.
If He put 1000 dollars in your heart, give 1000 dollars.

Believe me you can't go wrong.
It worked for me for over many, many years.
You can't outgive God.

Remember, He owns everything you have anyways.
It's all His.

I've just finished reading through the Torah and tithing principles were definitely mentioned in Leviticus and Numbers as part of the law.

Just waiting to hear about the "romanist system"...

Jesus himself referred to it as a matter of the law.

Re: To tithe or not to tithe?

It really is simple. Tithes were meant for the Levitical Priets. There are NO MORE levitical priests today. In fact, WE ARE the priesthood now. So unless you are tithing to yourself, you are buying into a load of crock by men who make a living off of theological extortion. Give them 10% or you'll go to hell and live a cursed life.

It's not hard to see where the tithing doctrine came from and how it is a lie to preach it to NT churches. The church did fine without it for hundreds of years, but then they decided they needed expensive buildings to "spread the gospel". (Rather build monuments to the achievments of said "pastors")

Re: To tithe or not to tithe?

The basis for giving, in general, be it money, time, talent etc., should ALWAYS be love. If you love God, love your neighbor, love your pastor and church family, and if you love those who are lost, you will be a giver in every possible area INCLUDING finances.

We all must guard against being covetous, its not just me and mine and you and yours. There are most likely folks who do extort money in the name of God - but in my experience, in the apostolic church, I have not seen this as a widespread issue, although I could be ignorant.

I still believe that as a Christian, giving should not be an issue...if it is, we may need to check our motives....just sayin'.
