So, would agree that tithing isn't required for the New Testament church?

Okay, did Jacob bully God into his terms and conditions? Why do modern day preachers emphasize that congregants must "first" tithe in order to receive a blessing when Jacob did the complete opposite? Who is wrong, Jacob or modern day preachers?

Re: To tithe or not to tithe?
I think tithing is an individual thing. If someone is not wanting to tithe, why should they be told they had to?

Re: To tithe or not to tithe?
Because there is a shallow vien of Christianity that loves the thou shalts, and thou shalt nots!
Keep it simple. What do I gotta do?

Re: To tithe or not to tithe?
But, if you are giving unwillingly, God doesn't honor it does he?

I have no idea what you mean about Jacob bullying God.
I can't answer for what modern day congregations do

Re: To tithe or not to tithe?
In like manner:
"The tithe was given to the Levites, and the tenth of the tithe to the priests, as their inheritance in place of land inheritance because they served God! God’s plan was that they would own no land, because He would be their inheritance (their land) through the possession of the tithe. This has certainly changed in our modern society where gospel workers usually own and inherit property, often have great wealth gained from the churches they serve, and still demand the whole tithe for themselves."

The tithe predates the Levites....
