As a white person of the Heinz 57 variety, I'm offended that black people might think that my actions toward them might be motivated by race. I cannot fathom why someone might think that I'm their friend because they are black, or I'm holding the door for them because they are black, or that I won't speak to them because they are black, or that I'm laughing because they are black, or if I take the life of an intruder, I did so because they are black.

On the other hand, and I realize there are some exceptions, whites don't do that based on the race of the offender alone. For instance, if my car is highjacked by a black man, I'm not going to say he only did that because I'm white, or if he holds a door open, he must be doing it because I'm white.

Now, if I commit an offense and use a slur against them, perhaps it's a racial event. George didn't do this, but Trayvon did. George saw a young kid with a hoodie on. Trayvon saw a creepy a&& cracker following him. If anyone turned it racial, it was TM.

I wish the black leaders would step up as you said and clean up their own backyard. Continuing to 'fight against the white man' is only keeping them suppressed. They need to rise above the past...especially a past they never lived in.

Yeah, only a sell out would be willing enough to tell the black community the truth...... weather or not they wanted to hear it!

Things I learned from the Zimmerman trial (from different forum comments):
1. If you don't want to be looked at suspiciously, don't dress suspicious and/or exhibit suspicious behavior! This can't be true, can it?

2. If you see a suspicious young man walking between houses in your gated community at night, offer him a ride! No need to just keep an eye on him.

3. If you see suspicious activity, call the police and stay where you are. Don't move! Let the police do the pursuing. If the suspicious person comes up to you and assaults and even kills you, you will die knowing you did the right thing.

4. If you decide to assault someone, be certain they are not armed!

5. If you are being assaulted and are in fear for your life, allow the nice person to finish beating your head in and don't defend yourself in any way, even if you are carrying a weapon.

6. If you feel that you MUST defend yourself, do so after the police have arrived so you'll have a witness.

7. If you MUST defend yourself to save your life, aim for a body part that will do the least amount of harm to the fine person attacking you.

8. It's a terrible thing to aspire to work in law enforcement.

9. You are now hyphenated depending on the ethnicity of your parents. The father first and the mother second. For instance, I am a white-white, Obama is a black-white and Zimmerman is a white-Hispanic. BTW, I'm calling Obama a black-white because the term African-American-white gives us two hyphens which sounds silly! Plus, it would be confusing to the white folks born and raised in South Africa that now live in America.

10. A 6'1" 17 year old athletic teenager is considered a child to the media if it helps their ratings. If it helps, show a picture that was taken when they actually were a child,and then broadcast that. That way they can say that an adult hurt a child's feelings, so the child had to beat the snot out of the adult, which resulted in the adult unbelievably using deadly force against this innocent child.

11. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson can sniff out racism from miles away! For instance, if you chew the gum that you purchased from the black girl at the store counter from the wrong side of your mouth, you are racist! Those guys are really good at this type of thing!

12. A jury of one's peers, means a jury of the same ethnicity. What I mean is if you are a black defendant, you should be tried with an all black jury and a black judge. If a black was the victim, your killer should be tried by an all black jury with a black judge. In other words, a black defender or accused deserves to have their fate in the hands of people that would relate and sympathize with them, instead of those racist creepy crackers. Stop the injustice!

George Zimmerman took the law into his own hands, and a young man ended up dead because of that. I don't know what Trayvon Martin was guilty of that night, so far nothing has been proven to say that Trayvon Martin was in the wrong. He wasn't here to tell his side of the story. It's just sad all the way around. But as a Christian, I can't dare sit back and say that this case never should've been tried in the first place. God help us. Maybe George Zimmerman had the correct intentions and there is no way he is guilty of 2nd degree murder. But George Zimmerman definitely made some mistakes that night that cost Trayvon Martin his life. Maybe the shame and fear that he has to live with the rest of life with be punishment enough.

GZ didn't "take the law into his own hands." What the trial testimony proved is that GZ did what he was taught to do by the Sanford PD Liaison; that is, to follow if you see someone suspicious and call the police.

This case should NOT have been tried. The Sanford PD did their job of investigating the incident and found that GZ had not broken any law. The evidence showed he acted in self defense. It only went to trial because Sharpton, Crump and the msm made it into a racial issue.

The only thing you said which I agree with is that it's sad all the way around and TM didn't have to die that night.

4 minutes...TM had 4 minutes to go home and stay safe and alive. He chose not to. He chose to ambush GZ and try to kill him. Unfortunately for TM, GZ was armed and killed him.

I was making light of some of the silly comments I heard reading different forums! For the record, I don't believe GZ was innocent, and the jury didn't say he was innocent. He certainly made errors in judgment that led to a confrontation. He is guilty of causing the confrontation that started the ball rolling in this tragedy. I personally believe maybe there should be some amount of punishment for his accountability to that. I've made plenty of errors in judgment that caused a confrontation. Thank God I'm not sitting behind bars for that!

The jury voted that GZ was not guilty of the charges that the state presented. My thoughts and prayers go with the parents of both TM and GZ. The Martins are having to come to grips with not only losing their son, but watching his killer walk free. The Zimmermans now have to live their lives in fear of death threats just because they are GZ's parents. There is no winner here!
