Re: Heard of Virus Scam?

It's called a Ransom Virus.

I had it happen to me a few weeks ago when I was searching for Real Estate graphics. I clicked on a 'for sale sign' and it downloaded the virus. It did several redirects and it put several pop-ups on my screen. The same ones they threaten you with (porn, copyright, etc.) While Norton blocked a couple of the pop-ups it didn't block all. Then it took over my computer screen with a very official ICC page stating I needed to go purchase a cash card for $300 within so many hours or they would send the info to the ICC.

Follow Prax's instructions...they were virtually the same that I received. I now run Avast now as well.

lol...never call AOL tech. You know most of the time when you get a "tech" guy all they really are is someone that knows how to read a "script"? It's usually not until you get to someone above him or her that you get a real a "tech" guy
