By all accounts NYC was a smashing success. Our kids came back with a renewed sense of purpose. 2 that went on the trip were baptized Sunday.
Like I said before I always loved and miss the Holy Hands the youth did at our church.

Jewish culture has a lot of dance involved in their worship. And it's not the unrestrained all over the place dancing that is done in most Pentecostal worship. It is planned and synchronized. When the Bible says to dance before the Lord, it's highly possible that it's referring to the type the Jews do.
Why is singing a solo, or singing in the choir, considered performing unto the Lord, but synchronized dancing has to be 'performing for men'?
Why is it that a choir singing isn't entertainment, but let that choir start moving their bodies to the beat and SHAZAM! It's no longer godly.

If it is sign language, one person doing the sign language is sufficient for the hearing impaired to get the message. I have seen it start with what they call sign language and then advanced to dancing - even ballerino dancing. I have seen it on TV and the women are wearing special dresses and tights and the men are wearing almost spandex tights. I remember a church from Atlanta a few years ago when they were on TV. It was disgusting to me.
We like musical signing or dislike like it, not from a biblical application, but from our personal viewpoint. This applies to everything in life I guess, and with that there is nothing inherently wrong...

From my perspective, I have seen it used with deaf members in the group and with hearing groups signing with the deaf in the congregation.
It has been a blessing to the hearing as well as the hearing impaired, and I can't explain it.
Yes, I have felt the witness of the presence of the Lord in the midst and can't explain that either.
Music is a strange thing...truly a universal language.
For example, I have friends who are singing in Sweden and Norway for 2 weeks...
Courtney wrote that is was so beautiful to hear the people in the concert singing How Great Thou Art in their own language...the English translation of the song is from a Swedish hymn.
Music touches lives in many ways...King Saul could testify to that, and so can I. Even in the secular realm, I can be in a store or doctor's office and hear a song from back in the day that will stir up an emotion or remembrance, good and bad.
So I guess I'm saying that if it is a blessing to some, let us give thanks. And if it does nothing for you, give thanks for those who are being blessed.
I heard someone say recently that we should take God very seriously, and take ourselves a whole less seriously.
When we cross over to the other side, I wonder how much of what we stress over is really that important?

I will never forget the year I went and took a young lady out for a nice dinner at a very nice resturant in downtown Cinn. I think there were 4 couples in our group.
We sat down and at some point realized that all the other tables were paired up guy-guy and girl-girl!
LOL! 8 sheltered pentecostal kids (we were all about 18-19) sitting in what was clearly an establishment that catered to a gay clientel.
The food was awsome and we had a good time and didnt gawk. But it sure has made for a great story!
