Years ago, when I was still in the UPC, there was a program started by a minister in TX called A.C.T.S. (Alcohol Chemical Treatment Series). It was a great program that was used in the church where I grew up.
A couple weeks ago, I thought of the program during a planning meeting at the church I attend now. I looked online and found that A.C.T.S. is under the umbrella of Life in Focus Education.
Unfortunately, looking at the forms for certification, you have to be recommended by a UPC Pastor.

Problem. I'm not UPC, and the church I've been a part of the past 5 or 6 years is not UPC. The Pastor isn't licensed by the UPC. So if we want to use the curriculum, we have to find some UPC Pastor and ask for his "recommendation" and signature!?
I've seen the program before, so I like it and know the success the church had with it.
Has anyone seen, read, heard, taught, or been taught the courses? There are a couple UPC churches we've had fellowship with over the years, so we could probably get the signatures, but I'd rather not.
Are there any other similar courses available that are more open to people who aren't licensed by the UPC?
