I totally agree that reimbursement money is likely the reason many hospitals and clinics are implementing stricter flu shot policies. I don't agree that just because reimbursement money is tied to such policies that it makes them bad policies. Monetary incentives can be used to further good policies. The question is whether its good for health care workers to take flu shots (given that someone in question does not have a good health reason for why they should be exempt).
So, lets talk about the pros for health care workers having flu shots and then lets talk about the cons.
Pros: Helps prevent spread of flu, Helps workers stay healthier so they can miss less work.
Cons: Side Effects

Re: Medical Science Kills Another One??
My brother-in-law, about age 69, had never been sick much in his life, very seldom went to the Dr . (I remember 1 time) got a flue shot. He got the flue, which linger on for weeks. Then he got pneumonia. Then he had a stroke and never recovered.
I blame the flue shot.

It helps prevent the spread of the flu so little that it isn't even funny. Standard precautions like handwashing are much more effective. They don't even know what strain is going to be around so they guess. The effectiveness rate is different for different age groups but it is low for everyone. Pregnant women are being forced to get the flu shot or be fired even though the insert says that it has not been proven safe for the fetus!! People who have had Previous reactions are also being forced. This is not dramatic hearsay, this is testimony from real people in real situations.
