Re: Sinful housework

The Bible says on many multitple occasions that God is Holy. THis is how God described Himself this is how the Angels describe Him This is how the demons describe Him this is how the prophets described Him this is how the apostles described Him. Yet you disregard all of these passages and pull one out to say what His nature is?

Yes, God is holy, but God isn't "holiness".

God is just, but God isn't "justice".

God is jealous, but God isn't "jealousy".

When it comes to the very essence of His substance, God "is" love.

It's all a very big difference.

Re: Sinful housework

Consider this. It wasn't holiness that held Christ to the cross. It was love.

I'm with Luke on this. God is, at the core, at His essence, Holy. Yes, God is love, but in the end God's holiness will be greater than His love. If not, love wins and no one goes to hell.

Kinda off the subject, but....To me, God has MANY attributes that make Him God. Love is just ONE of those attributes, but so is holiness, righteousness, grace, judgment, mercy, vengeance. We appeal to his grace, love, mercy through repentance, but from humanity's rebellions against His holiness comes the judgments and vengeance of God. WE determine how God deals with us.

Love allows freedom. Freedom to chose. Therefore, if a soul choses Hell over God... love would never violate that choice. Mankind, chose sin. Therefore, love must allow mankind to grapple with that reality. Love also opens a door of escape to mankind through evangelism.

Again, the Bible says that "God is love". Now, God is holy. But holiness isn't some metaphysical state of purity. Holiness simply means, separate. Distinct from everything else. God is holy. God is holy regarding His love, which is infinite. God is holy with regards to His omniscience. God is holy with regards to His omnipotence. God is holy with regards to His oneness. God is holy. But God isn't holiness. God is love.

Love isn't merely an "attribute" of God. It is the very essence of His substance, the Bible says...
1 John 4:8
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
This is so powerful, only the truly "spiritual" of believers will catch this is plumb it's depths. Religionists cannot fathom it. God is just, but God is not justice. God is holy, but God is not holiness. God is glorious, but God is not glory. God is jealous, but God isn't jealousy. God is vengeful, but God isn't vengeance. God is gracious, but God isn't grace. God is judging, but God isn't judgment. God is merciful, but God isn't mercy. All of these are attributes. However, with regards to the very essence of His substance of being... God IS love. That's BIBLE. To reject this truth is to reject the God of Scripture.

An attribute is like a stream that flows from a source. The source with regards to God is... love. God is jealous of His place as God, because He loves His creation. God is holy, because He is separate from the creation He created out of love. God is just, because God loves that which is just. God is glorious, because He has revealed His glory out of love for His creation. God is vengeful, because God hates that which destroys what He loves. God is merciful, because God loves His creation. God judges, because God loves that which is like Himself.

All attributes flow from the very essence of His being... love.

Pray that I can become as spiritual as you.

I'm not spiritual. I'm simply a dreamer.
