I have never heard a reasonable explanation either, and I was born and raised OP.

Do we, as Christians, become so offended at the doings of other Christians that their actions cause us to stumble? Are we that weak as people that we can't overlook offenses? Are we to be constantly on our toes, changing ourselves to suit others in the hopes we never come across as offensive??
In the profession I do as a living, I'm offended daily. I have big shoulders. I get over it or ignore it altogether.
I shouldn't have to worry about Pastor Soandso getting offended over something I'm doing. If he's so offended that he may stumble over me, perhaps he shouldn't be a pastor.

You are so right! The shoe fits on both feet, not just one.
My thought is this... if the Lord convicts you to do (or not to do) such and such... do it as unto the Lord, but don't expect every other person you meet to have to rise up and meet the standards that are between you and the Lord. Things would be so much easier that way.

Re: If you have to wear make-up to be accepted....
This man walks into your assembly, professing himself to be a believer:
Longer hair, but trimmed, some make-up but not much, tastefully done, no jewelry, wearing slightly feminine, but still possibly gender neutral apparel.
He wants to join your church, perhaps get involved in ministry someday.
Does he have to change?
If yes, why?
If not, why not?

Long hair, jewelry, including earrings, more make-up than the man above, but still not gaudy or over the top, definitely wearing women's clothing.

This woman walks into your assembly, professing herself to be a believer:
Short, cut hair, modest level of jewelry, no make-up at all, wearing semi-masculine, but mostly gender neutral clothing.
She wants to join your church, perhaps get involved in ministry someday.
Does she have to change?
If yes, why?
If not, why not?

Longer hair, facial hair, no make-up, no jewelry, wearing men's clothing.

Does she have to change?
If yes, why?
If not, why not?

Re: If you have to wear make-up to be accepted....
I was just at a class reunion where a woman came that I have known most of my life. Guy haircut, guy pants, guy shirt. Looked like a guy.
I started school with her in 2nd grade. She always dressed like that. Except for prom, she wore a dress because she was on prom court.
She "dated" a guy in school who turned out to be gay. She was married once and now has a partner.
I can't judge this. All I know is it looks like she has never been specifically a female.
----------------
I watched a video of two men. Gay, living together. Turns out they were both born with male and female parts. Hermaprodites. Freaks of nature, the doctors decided when they were young to do surgeries and hormones to make them male. Now, they have found love with each other. I can't judge this.
--------------
Some overweight people have genetic issues. Some have food addiction. I don't judge what a person has from the outside looking in. Some gay people have genetic issues. Some have sexual addictions. I don't judge this from the outside looking in.

Does HE have breasts?
Before we play, can you tell me if you would allow HIM to work the Sunday school, and if "some" of the saints refuse to allow their children to color under HIS watchful eye, do you tell them to leave your congregation, or suck it up while keeping their eyes on Jesus?

I know a kid from the library I used to work at. He really does have breasts and a high voice, but he's a guy. He looks like he would like to shrink into the walls and disappear from this world. The poor kid will hardly talk to anyone.
