Calvinism (plus all other predestination to heaven or hell teaching) is the fate teaching of Hinduism baptized into Christianity. Where the Hindu and Buddhist have you entering and escaping Samsara, the Calvinist just has you predestined all the way to heaven or hell with no do overs.

I lean heavily toward New Calvinism (Chandler, Piper, et al).

I have gleaned much from both Calvinist & Arminian theology. I prefer to stay somewhere in the middle, balancing them with what I find written in the Bible. Oftentimes when we take our Biblical doctrines to their logical extremes we will find ourselves outside of the Word of God altogether. IMO this is a good example of man's finite capacity to understand an infinite God.

I really like New Calvinism as well. It seems to be more balanced than traditional reformed theology. I am currently reading "Desiring God: Meditations of a Christian Hedonist" by John Piper for the second time. If you have the opportunity to read it, I think you would really enjoy it.

I have enjoyed reading John Piper & Greg Boyd's debates and challenges to one another regarding there respective theology. It seems to always be cordial, and both seem to be well informed of what the other believes.

Greg Boyd is a proponent of Open Theism. I do not subscribe to it myself, but I thought he did an excellent job in teaching it!
