Word has it that some Japanese and German companies were involved with WWII also!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

For real?!!!!!! I did not know that!!!!!

I watched a documentary about her and was shocked at her hatred for the Jews. She learned to hate them while in a convent - those pesky Catholics again.

So, what happened is that the Nazi's seized all Jewish owned property and business enterprises. The Wertheimers were the directors of Parfums Chanel at the time. Coco petitioned the German officials using her position as an Aryan to claim sole ownership.

But, the Wertheimers, knowing what was coming, had already turned the legal control of the company over to a Christian business man, which was a common practice.

After the war, long story short, Coco sues saying that the company had been abandoned and still owned by a Jew, was awarded 9 million in lost wartime profits and 2% of all the Chanel No. 5 sales worldwide.

Amazingly, Wertheimer also agreed to pay her living expenses for the rest of her life.

Pretty amazing. Henry Ford was also an early Nazi sympathizer but by his son Edsel was running the company and did not feel the same way. Ford Motor Company became one of the greatest contributors to the war effort. Still Henry Ford was quite the anti-semite. In the early 1900's even owned a newspaper spouting those views.

Yes, that was also amazing. And his book, The International Jew: The World's Foremost Problem - translated into 16 languages.

If you have money in Chase be it known that they were the most prominent bank (most of your big banks lent to Nazis also,) But Chase worked openly with the National Socialist Party. Another fashion designer by the name of Hugo Boss worked with the National Socialists. Coca Cola (its factory located in Germany during the war) supported the National Socialist Party as did Bayer, and what about Standard Oil? They supplied fuel for the Nazi high powered Messerschmidt planes. IBM created the computers for the National Socialist Party so they were able to keep track of everyone. But last but not least, Volkswagen named by ADOLF himself as the PEOPLE'S CAR.

BMW, and Mercedes made engines for Nazi war vehicles, from tanks to planes, later even the first jets used during the war.

Just thought you might want to know that.

Interesting. Do you have sources to back all that info up with? I've heard some of it before, but just curious.

And really, if we really boycotted a company who was involved in doing some activity that we ourselves would not approve of... we might just find ourselves trying to exist off the land somewhere, completely without the use of any modern technology, advances, or help. I've come to find out that if you truly wanted to try to boycott or not use someone's product because of what agenda their company has, it leaves you with few choices to exist in today's world.

Yes, I knew about all of the companies except for Chase. Always interesting to read this type of information.

I agree.

And please note to readers - I didn't mention the background of Coco Chanel in order to boycott her perfume. It was simply a part of the evolving conversation. I was only surprised and interested at her background.

Re: If you have to wear make-up to be accepted....

Why can't we allow the Spirit to speak to individuals on the matter?

The Spirit might lead a woman to conform more to cultural norms if she is serving in politics, entertainment, or public life in some fashion. However, the Spirit might lead a woman to maintain a standard against makeup if she works as a cashier at the grocery store.

The Holy Spirit can lead a guide one in areas that are specific for them as long as those areas are not directly against the very nature of God.

The Kingdom of God isn't a form of spiritual communism.
