"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Does anyone know of a Apostolic Church in ATLA
I know and love Pastor Downs. Some don't like him. He believes in sharing the Gospel to everyone you come in contact with. He believes every believer must be a soul winner.
Atlanta Hope Center, IMO, is the closest thing to a book of Acts church of which I've read about and seen videos and photos. They baptize daily. I follow him on FB and almost every day there's a new photo of them baptizing someone. They love people and actively give back to the community. The weekly schedule and events is incredible. GED Classes, Kids Movie Nights, Bible Study, Parenting Classes. They offer a Food Bank and a Free Clothing Bank. IIRC, they own a thrift store attached to the church.
And from the testimonies in the video above and elsewhere, Pastor Downs and the Atlanta Hope Center have made a great and positive impression in that area.
I would love to be able to go and visit them some day.

That is a great testimony. Some will criticize some of those programs as not being directly religious but community outreach is a great way to get people comfortable with your ministry and your church so are much more likely to visit when invited. Brooklyn Tabernacle has had great success with this in offering english language classes to new immigrants.

POA has also had great success in its English language program. We started a free ESL program this summer, but it's been hard getting it going.

Good luck with it. I hope it takes off. I guess a lot depends on the need in your particular community and how many other organizations are offering the same thing.
My pastor has a dream of renting space in a building on our town square and using it to offer community outreach with classes like parenting , english language, etc.

Re: Does anyone know of a Apostolic Church in ATLA
I attended Atlanta Hope Center today! WOW this is the best kept secret in Pentecost!
They come casually dressed so others won't feel intimidated to dress when they cannot afford it, they do outreach every day and every night, their whole church is filled to the walls with all brand new converts won by the pastors family.
They baptized 10 people today and they have old style music and worship, the people are so sincere and amazing.
The Pastor just started this church 3 years ago and there are hundreds of people in attendance!
Thank you everyone for suggesting this church for us!
