I have been doing an extensive study on Paul and his scriptural references in Romans and Hebrews to the Septuagint. Your post made me think there were more important things going on.
But, mainly, that aside from the standards debate, the UPCI preaches the Gospel message that the Apostles preached. So, you might be in a bit of trouble standing before God someday "persecuting" a group of people on God's side - regardless of being bitter over the standards you don't agree with.
People in every religious faith are on a journey. I started out as a Catholic. Where will I be in 10 or 20 years? Who knows, but aside from reasonable scriptural dialogue, I'm not going to "persecute" any group preaching the Gospel.
That's how I feel about it, anyway.

Humor is in the eye (or funny bone) of the beholder. Dry humor used around a sacred bovine I usually not appreciated by those who worship said bovine. But then this mindset leads to the rest of the comments about 'persecuting' the UPC. Persecuting? Really? Now I do need to find a sarcastic emoticon because disagreeing with certain aspects of any group's beliefs is not 'persecution', unless you belong to a nightmare like ISIS and behead everybody who isn't exactly like you. And then finally there's the tired old 'bitter' judgment call. Whatever. Now I can say I've been on both sides of that, too.

Stand on a street corner with this placard:
You tell me what your audience will perceive you as doing.

Well - I have very strong ties to the UPCI, I have read many of the posts made by Roxanne as well as P.O.
I have to say that the emoticons did not come across to me like they did to P.O. and Houston. I guess it's all in the perspective we have. Everyone sees things differently sometimes. ???

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
