BREAKING: Here’s Jonathan Gruber’s Health Care Comic Book for Stupid Americans

By now we all know who Jonathan Gruber is… and if you don’t, turn on the news. The quotes this ‘architect’ of Obamacare gave us on his work were golden:

“This bill was written in a tortured way to make sure [the Congressional Budget Office] did not score the mandate as taxes,” and

“If CBO scored the mandate as taxes, the bill dies, ok? … lack of transparency is a huge political advantage and basically, you know, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically, that was really, really critical to getting this thing to pass.”

After those quotes, it makes perfect sense that Gruber’s greatest treatise for the stupid American voters is a comic book… and when I heard this, I had to find a copy and read it for myself so that you, the stupid American voter, wouldn’t have to.

For years, Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Jonathan Gruber was deemed an architect of Obamacare and his economic modeling was cited regularly by the health care law’s defenders on Capitol Hill and in legal briefs defending the Affordable Care Act in federal courts.

But after tapes surfaced of the economist saying “stupid” voters needed to be bamboozled and the books cooked to get the legislation passed in 2010, Democrats are scrambling to reduce Mr. Gruber to a bit player — and raising questions about whether he needs to be expunged from their defense strategy as they face yet another Supreme Court review.

Gruber noted that the Affordable Care Act says people are not required to buy health insurance if it costs more than 8 percent of their income. "If we get rid of these subsidies, 99 percent of the people who get these subsidies could not buy health insurance for less than 8 percent of income. Why would they (Congress) put in a clause that applies to the entire population? It makes no sense. Basically, it would effectively kill the whole thing if you -- if you get rid of these subsidies and 99 percent of people can't afford health insurance and the law unravels. Why would congress write a law that unravels itself?"

On Friday, CNN talk show host Michael Smerconish, a lawyer, said Gruber's 2012 remarks seem to support the plaintiffs who are challenging Obamacare subsidies in the case soon to be heard by the Supreme Court: "I suspect they'll try to use his argument, his verbiage, in bringing down Obamacare," he said.
