You are.
I have no time for you on this subject. You know as well as I do that the War on Drugs hit high gear under Reagan staryting back in 1982 and that the affect was a bipartisan push to pass some of the worst laws ever.
This wasn't initiated by the CBC and was happening with or without the CBC.
As for blaming Reagan, all I said is that he had something to do with it. GO back and read my posts.
You are the one trying to hijack this thread with stupidity.

i'm pretty sure that we will all be rewriting history, and framing it politically is just asking for dividing lines.

Not true, Jermyn.
Charles Rangel, at the time, headed the House Select Committee on Narcotics Abuse and Control. There is no logical argument to be made that Rangel was not involved at ANY stage of the legislation. Because it was such a huge problem among black communities, I would say he got the ball rolling.

It’s worth remembering that the harsher penalties for crack cocaine offenses that were passed in the 1980s were supported by most of the Congressional Black Caucus, including Rep. Charles Rangel of Harlem, who at the time headed the House Select Committee on Narcotics Abuse and Control. Crack was destroying black communities and many black political leaders wanted dealers to face longer sentences. In other words, black legislators in Washington led the effort to impose tougher drug laws, a fact often forgotten by critics today.

You are doing the same thing that Oprah did in her "Butler" movie and Ava DuVernay did in "Selma" - re-writing history!!!!! They both come across as racists, while blaming other people for it.
That is why we CAN'T fix relations is this country. It's just a shame.
Stop re-writing history.
Man up and look at the facts.
Reagan thanked Rangel for helping get the legislation passed. That is fact and that is HISTORY.
Now who is putting out stupidity? I'm not saying you are stupid, but one of us was stupid and it wasn't me.

Would you want to see all drugs legalized or just marijuana?
Personally, I am thinking marijuana is not nearly as harmful as the other drugs and since it has medicinal properties, I really don't see the logic behind keeping it illegal.

I wonder if there is anyone who believes this guy should be jailed for 55 years for dealing marijuana? The judge who sentenced him really doesn't.

agreed, but this may ignore how parties--i mean people, not political--are often manipulated into their positions, unawares, at the very least. And political, too, as those parties are ostensibly catering to their constituent's will--even though this is not true, practically speaking, which should be a clue to its value. I see a similar reflection in trying to quote Scripture to prove a point, or at least most points. This doesn't mean that one is wrong, in doing this, but possibly starting from a rigid premise, or an exclusive one. I think the reality--as opposed to the facts--lie somewhere in the middle here, as with most other things.

Ask Charles Rangel. He helped get the legislation passed, Jermyn. Go to your SOURCE.
