I never got to meat them in person as my Dad was only 15 when he received the Holy Ghost. I did get to hear them on tape and have read Sis. Charlotte's writings. I saw the service at General Conference where they were passing the mantel from some of our older pioneer women to the younger generation. That was a powerful service. But I saw Sis. Nilah Mean in that service. She looked wearied. But God bless these wonderful women of God that were not ashamed to preach the gospel knowing their own lives were in danger. I only wish that I could have had the chance to let them know what an impact that had on my life. My life could have been far different had they not reached my Dad that night.

My great grandmother hammock was a "Lady Man of God" as brother Epley calls them...

if it were not for her, I would not know the Lord today. I agree with you, god bless these wonderful women of God that were not ashamed to preach the gospel knowing their own lives were in danger.

It is not "MEANS", but "MEAN". No "S" in there, bro. I do not know where the "S" came from with so many people that know them. It is MEAN.

John and Nilah "MEAN"

Someone please do John MEAN a favour and tell everyone they know it is not MEAN"S", but simply MEAN. LOL. Bro McGruder always says "MEANS" as well.

It's like properly saying "Newfoundland" with the accent pronunciation on the NEW and LAND, instead of FOUND in incorrect pronunciation. Newfoundland is pronounced like Understand.

I worked with the Mean's 8 years. They indeed impacted my life. What a privilege. Never met Sis Charlotte, though. But I have 6 tapes of her's and the book.
