Re: The Effects of A Loud Shout | Raul Alvear Jr.
There's a big guy at my church, that lets out a shrill scream (banshee war cry?) and takes off around the pews. He hits it about once a month or so. Broke his ankle one time, so that slowed him down a while. If I was a visitor, I'd think he lost his mind.
But, I think making a loud joyful noise unto the Lord, FROM the heart, wherever one is at thruout the day is pleasing to the Lord. Or praising him quietly from the heart thruout the day is good and pleasing to the Lord. And either one even while meeting w the church body
I do get a little tired of the ol constant pulpit cliche' of comparing pro football game yelling to church....we going to rip off our shirt and paint our chest too?
My elder pastor always says tho"I'd rather have a little wild fire than no fire at all...
If we were to have a very close call with losing a loved one, maybe a young child being airlifted, where they almost lose their life, are we going to cry out to God w a loud voice? They retain their life are we going to whisper thank you Lord,or shout out loud with a voice of gratitude?( ) Everyones different but either way, it's the heart that pleases Him, whether accompanied by a loud voice or not.
There's my $.01, one post for the day

Some people are just so starchy and dry as winter wheat. I posted this thread because I listened not only to Brother Alvear Jr, but to the excitement of the congregation listening to him. Everyone not only felt the power of God, but they had a good time doing it! Send it on down! Good job Brother R. Alvear Jr. Good job!

Re: The Effects of A Loud Shout | Raul Alvear Jr.
If the heart is not right, even your prayer is detestable to the Lord. Shall we then forego prayer because someone somewhere might pray with the wrong attitude?
The bible describes worship and praise. Shouting is included, so if you don't like shoutin' you don't like biblical worship.
The bible goes further and COMMANDS shouting. Do you prefer God's opinion or your own personal feelings on the matter? Conform to scripture, be conformed to God's Way, and follow in the footsteps of all the saints of God who have gone before you, be a part of something far older than yourself, something that will in fact be eternal.
OR, harrumph in your seat, clamp your throat down, be mum, be "dignified" like the Pharisees who demanded Jesus stop all that noisemaking his disciples and the people were doing, and risk the same rebuke from the Lord.
Some people are so out of touch with biblical worship it's amazing!
Is there MORE than shouting? CERTAINLY! But just as there is more to parenting than playing with your kids, that doesn't mean we quit playing with our kids "because there's more to parenting than playing." Just so with worship.
Some of us got religion so good we can't help but shout unto God with the voice of triumph. And, sadly, some don't have much to shout about...

I still believe that God loves LOUD praise.
He is worthy of all the mighty praising I can muster.

Sister, we aren't even worthy to so much as peep at him, yet he inhabits our praises.
