There, we have a book, that uses a few signs to explain an actuality.
Preterists have turned these signs into lies(metaphors).....
You see, a metaphor is not a sign, it is a lie......

Ok. I made an adjustment. So now, is what I posted an accurate portrayal of your interpretive method? I'm just trying to get an idea on your parameters on deciding what goes into what category. Literal or spiritual.

Re: Some standing here
You see, if I tell you something, and you tell me I meant something else, that is saying, "I thought you were METAPHORICALLY speaking about something else".
But in reality, you lied about what I originally said.

To clarify, I read Rev. verbatim, but notice the "signs" from time to time. They help me understand what is said.
However, I must not re-invent the meaning with these signs.

Re: Some standing here
For instance....11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
John saw a visual image(sign) of the heaven and earth destroyed(since it had not happened yet)....
This(sign) represented a real heaven and a real earth though.

Re: Some standing here
But the metaphorist says...
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the Jews and the Law fled away; and there was found no place for them.
The metaphorist just committed a lie.

Re: Some standing here
But the metaphorist says...
2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the Church, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the Church were for the healing of the nations.
The metaphorist just committed a lie.

But the metaphorist says...
27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Roman armies be.....
35 Temple and Jews shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
The metaphorist just committed a lie.

Re: Some standing here
But the metaphorist says...
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the Temple shall pass away with a great noise, and the Jewish Law shall melt with fervent heat, the Jews also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the Temple being on fire shall be dissolved, and the Jewish Law shall melt with fervent heat?
The metaphorist just committed a lie.

Re: Some standing here
It's ok. I get what you are saying. (I think) If it is connected to or proceeding from a body, it is literal, but if the body is just standing in it or just touching something, it is a sign.
I was just curious how you can take one word in a verse and make it a sign, and another word in the same verse as being literal.
I was sure you had a method to your madness (figure of speech) (or was it a metaphor? IDK) and just was curious as I couldn't see a consistent method.
