Re: Are there any independent house churchers here

My family seems to have taken to home churching well. I personally was not keen of the idea. But I knew God was leading and sink or swim it was His call. I am thankful to you and others who share the experiences. It's encourageing.

Perhaps some day our two fellowships can meet and worship the One true God together.

Re: Are there any independent house churchers here

I'm involved in "simple church" (aka house church)

In my opinion it's the best method of assembly.

Re: Are there any independent house churchers here

I met a group of house churches in my county that I had never met before. Were "holiness" in appearance. When asked what they believed they just said they were "nondenominational"...so not sure if they were Jesus name or not..

There are several house church-ing groups of people out there. There are some old fashioned 'Brethren' groups (anabaptist types) that are not Pentecostal at all. There are some Anabaptist and some Baptist house church groups or independents that are conservative in dress. There are some Pentecostal groups and some charismatic groups that are house churchers, although I don't know of any charismatics that would be mistaken for 'holiness' people. There may even be some conservative-holiness (Wesleyans) groups that have gone house church.

There are also some fringe Mormon groups, some fringe Adventist groups, etc that may be doing house church and probably have that 'holiness' look about them as well. There are also some Church of God (non Pentecostal, Wesleyan holiness types) that may be house churchers, although the men in those groups probably wear full beards and everybody pretty much dresses the same (black old fashioned suits for men, black conservative or 'Plain' dress for the women).

There's also the Cooneyites (aka 'Irvingites' aka 'Two by Twos' aka 'Workers' aka 'Friends' aka 'The Church With No Name') who are a unique group, believing only their fellowship is the truth and the true church, they are very conservative in dress, they meet in one another's homes, preachers have no job but preaching, the preachers go out in pairs (hence the 'Two by Two' name) and travel, staying at members' homes while in town. They hold public meetings every so often and unless you 'profess' in one of their meetings you aren't saved. Their message is pretty much all about their group and their way of doing things. They got started in Ireland in the 1800s but most of them think their history goes back to Jesus and the apostles.

Or they could just be some apostolic house churchers.

Interesting information there Esaias, I've never heard of the Cooneyites.
