One comment stated that there is no better place to be than church when your sick. Where is the common sense? What is the thought process? I'm sick so let me go to church and get everyone else sick. Is it fear of missing a church service? Is it an obsession?
Not all sicknesses are communicable

Well...This very minute I was thinking on that actual scripture!

Let's see: rock breaks scissors; scissors cuts paper; paper covers rock; and
faith overcomes common sense!

Re: Obsessed with Church

Thank God for the assembling together! We had awesome church yesterday. If you don't want to go to church then don't. I was glad when they said unto me let us go into the house of the Lord. Who are we to judge another man's servant. If someone sick comes to church then avoid them if you feel they shouldn't be there.

Re: Obsessed with Church

as - ok, I went back and read your question. "When is it ok to miss church".
I believe this is referring to only illness related issues.
So, I believe it is left up to the person.
I have forced myself to go to church when I was sick, but able to make it and almost every time, I was touched and felt better.
However, there have been those cases when I was too ill to even ride to church and I stayed home.
I have also left church when I started feeling badly, sometimes.
Notably, I suffered from vertigo for a few years, when I felt it coming I would get prayed for, then leave to make it home.
I do believe that we sometimes "rob" people of their blessing by publicly announcing their sacrifices or commitments.

Re: Obsessed with Church

My question is more to the motivation of not missing a service. To all you guys who go every time the door is open, and force yourself to go even with contagious illness. Why? I was using the facebook post as an example. This lady was praised for her dedication for going to church with the flu. In my opinion this is poor judgement. As a pastors wife she cannot just hide in the corner away from the majority she is expected to meet and greet etc. So in reality she is exposing all the people she "cares" about to the flu. My question is simple why? Why the fear of missing a service?

Two reasons for me.
1. God and church is the center of my life. So my attendance is my faithfulness to Him.
2. I do believe in healing and have experienced it many times the majority in church services.
Been a way of life for 54 years.
However some are not able I understand that.

Re: Obsessed with Church

the kind of elephant in the room is, why are you getting "sick?" This points to poor immunity, which i doubt the Bible is addressing at "is any of you sick."
