Re: Calling on the Name of Jesus (at baptism)

Just a thought. If the baptizer did not need to say anything, why even have a baptizer? After all, one can dunk one's one self in water calling on the name of the Lord.

I believe both the baptizer and the one being baptized need to call on the name of the Lord Jesus.

Lets try this again. You all are acting as if because demons flee at the name of Jesus that leaves no room for growth about the issue of using the Hebrew original name.

My point is that when Oneness is trying to persuade Trins they will say something like "We are baptized Matt 28:19 and when we use the name of Jesus we see miraculous healings and demons being cast out".

So to them they think their baptism must be valid becuse of what is happening in their walk.

Now when anyone mentions (among Oneness) that it might be a good thing to call the Lord by his given name especially when our language allows it we are basically told since demons flee at Jesus name we arent interested in hearing anything else.

So now are you saying you have never heard this argument put forth by Trins?

Nope never had a Trinitarin say that they had miraculous events happen at their godless baptisms. Again I'm not saying you're wrong I just have never heard of an argument like that from the Three god group.

One Trinitarian "Apostle" that was trying to persuade me from Oneness said he had seen Cancers healed in baptism....both Oneness and Trinitarian.

But I dont mean "just at baptism". Trins say the miraculous signs they have seen confirms their Godhead belief.

My point would be I too had amazing signs in my life when I was in the Trinitarian faith. I look at it that God was showing me his grace (favor) as a way of pointing me toward more truth.

It seems that is at least one of the ways he works. For Oneness Pentecostals to think they have all the truth they need because God has revealed himself to them in various ways would be a mistake IMO.

Re: Calling on the Name of Jesus (at baptism)

Where did the apostles speak about using a supposed Hebrew pronunciation of his name?

I have to say that I have never heard this argument from a Trin.
Also, I cannot remember seeing or hearing about a physical healing at baptism.
I will have to search my memory banks...(getting old).

I know that's right.
Unregistered thinks he has it all figured out.

Gee, thanks. I confess I am ignorant of this teaching. Please show me where the apostles taught about pronouncing the Saviour's name in Hebrew, and I shall be able to escape my ignorance.
