Redeemed

Getting ready to start my day I was listening to my Chris Tomlin radio on Pandora. This song came on. It's not new I know but I was so ministered by it I wanted to share the lyrics hoping it might encourage someone else.

Seems like all I can see was the struggle
Haunted by ghosts that lived in my past
Bound up in shackles of all my failures
Wondering how long is this gonna last
Then You look at this prisoner and say to me "son
Stop fighting a fight that's already been won"

I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off theses heavy chains
Wipe away every stain now I'm not who I used to be
I am redeemed

All my life I have been called unworthy
Named by the voice of my shame and regret
But when I hear You whisper, "Child lift up your head"
I remember oh God, You're not done with me yet

I don't have to be the old man inside of me
'Cause his day is long dead and gone
I've got a new name, a new life I'm not the same
And a hope that will carry me home

Re: Redeemed

I will be the first to admit I am a piece of work. Why Jesus even bothers with me I don't understand. Most often I barely believe in myself and so it's hard to grasp why anyone else would let alone God. I am thankful for the truth of God's Word because it runs counter to my thoughts and feelings about myself, and it gives me hope. I ran across this scripture "he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." The idea that God is not finished with me gives me a sense of purpose to forge ahead with today, and to believe for the best for tomorrow.

I guess many of us have felt that way.

I always knew God loved YOU (everybody), but found it difficult
to believe that He could love me . . . until He led me to this one
scripture that spoke to my heart:

"I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and will have
compassion on whom I will."

Amen! I didn't realize the level of God's love until I was in the church - embraced the Gospel.

When I have made mistakes, He would come to me in the night filling my mind with songs and scriptures to draw me back to Him - that's when I knew the level of His love and how He felt about me - that HE was fighting for me and would never let me go.

You are right - He isn't finished with us yet.

Re: Redeemed

Thanks for the post.

I think the artist who sings this song is Big Daddy Weave.

Re: Redeemed

A wonderful song, and the greatest hope we have in this life is to be redeemed from the body of this death by the resurrection of Jesus!

I'm first to agree with you on that!

Ok, then let me help you

Jesus bothers with you because He is trying to save you!

Paul was a murderer but he did it in ignorance 1 Timothy 1:13. Paul states in 1 Timothy 1:15 that he was the chiefest of sinners because he killed Apostolic Judean Christians. Not because he was actively still killing these people. But that he previously tormented the church of God. Paul's comments in 1 Corinthians 15:9 show again that he felt that he was the least, because of his persecution of the Church.

Bro, that is because you know that form of Christianity couldn't get a fly off the ground. Anyone who doubt it, if they were committing adultery, cursing out a driver who just cut them off while the Bible is seated right next to them. Hey, God's watching all the time. But these folks don't feel God's presence because they mock "feelings" while they themselves feel nothing.
Oh, don't get me wrong, they feel religious when they go into their respective places of religion. Temples, Synagogues, Masjids, or Church buildings. Yet, Holy Ghost conversion with life changing power, no, sadly that's mocked.

Bro, your not alone, it is hard for me to grasp how you are a Christian, but it doesn't matter what I think. Jesus Christ loves you more than anyone could, He died to "make" you free. To recreate you and I (ooh, how'd you like that grammar kung fu?) DB, seek Jesus' truth, a be free of the bondage of sin and death.

Amen, he runs counter to your thoughts, and doctrines which end up making you chase your own tail. Constantly going back to GO and not collecting the hundred dollars. DB, Jesus wanted way more for us than to be psychopathic serial killers wearing Jesus saves baseball caps.

DB, that doesn't mean the time of YOUR death, burial, and resurrection. The completion is maturity in Christ. Be ye mature as your father is mature???

Again, this sounds more like Bipolar Christianity.

I don't have to be the OLD MAN INSIDE of me?

You all know deliverance isn't just a movie with Burt Reynolds?

Re: Redeemed

I was told when I first got around those Apostolics, that the OLD MAN was to be buried in a watery grave. Death, burial, and resurrection! Repentance was your OLD MAN dying, then you had to bury that corpse of the OLD MAN, which was baptism in Jesus name. Then the NEW MAN arose out of the grave!

Thank you Jesus for those Apostolic preachers who took the time to tell me that I can bury the OLD MAN.
