Re: Just Typing Truth ...

I think Youth Pastors are getting a bad shake here. I don't think they are responsible for our children's spiritual health. As parents, we are. The Bible commands parents to train their children and raise them in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Sure, Youth Pastors help teach Scripture from a perspective the youth might get, they provide fellowship and socialization. But beyond that... if our kids are carnal and fall away... it is because we as parents failed them. Not the Youth Pastors.

Deu_12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

We all say that we should keep his word, I don't argue with that. But you seem to miss my point. While we think we have not added to the word, we have. I gave the religious leaders of Christ day as a example of adding to the word, with their defining of the level of work that could and could not be done on the Sabbath day.

They believed that they were pleasing God, yet they had added to the original commandments of God. We seem to think it is ok to add to the word, just don't take away from God's word. But scripture commands not to add to nor take away.

The fact is when we read scripture, we read through the lens of our church teachings. As long as we don't think about it or question the teachings, most will read scripture and see what we have been taught by our church.

But, and this is where our youth are going. If one questions church teachings that do not seem to agree with our society. Most will find that the teachings of the church are not bible. And there for loose faith in God or the church either of which will cause them to leave church altogether.

If a young persons faith is strong with God most times they will find a church that teaches closer to the way they believe. Either way if they leave their primary group, said group most times will say they are backslid.

Bottom line forget the lights and smoke, give me youth that love God and have a relationship with him, and I will give you young adults that though they may walk away from church traditions, they won't walk away from God.

If this is the case then we can' t have any communication whatsoever including body language or preaching with the young people, because communication is impossible without some sort of filter, preconceived ideas, or belief system.
