My point is that while the Scriptures are infallible... our interpretations and understandings of them are not. All too often, what the previous generations felt was absolute truth... was merely a flawed interpretation of the truth. This is where the Holy Spirit must guide us into all truth.

For example, during the slavery debate many Bible believing pastors in the South felt that the Bible supported the practice of having slaves, which was the prevailing interpretation for generations. Many, more liberal, groups in the North, such as the Quakers, felt the Holy Spirit challenging them to see the Scriptures differently.

Who was following the Spirit?

For nearly 2,000 years scholars favored the Trinitarian interpretation of Scripture. After the Holy Ghost outpourings of the late 1800's and early 1900's the Holy Spirit began to challenge pockets of believers to see the Scriptures differently.

Who was following the Spirit?

But what seems to be the biggest problem with those on the conservative side, is that they cannot see that they are doing just as the Pharisee and religious leaders around the time of Christ. They had put together a whole book of laws that they felt better defined the law God gave to Moses.

I use the Sabbath day man made laws to describe what I mean. God simply said to keep the Sabbath day holy and rest. Man came along and stipulated what that meant to them. As in how far one could walk, or how many sticks one could pick up etc.

The same thing is being done with Deut. 22:5, nowhere does God mention "pants" or anything kin to pants in the passage. Only one occasion does God speak of pants (breeches) and that only for the priest, and he gives the reason for it in the passage. Men and women both wore robes in those days. The very reason God instructed Moses to make breeches for the priest should be evidence of that fact.

Trying to prove men wore pants with a couple of obscure passages about Daniel and Jesus does not prove they were wearing pants. And as I said, lets be consistent if you are going to preach against women wearing pants, lets preach against panties and nylons too, for both are split legged apparel.

Oh well I have said my piece carry on.
Although, I disagree with you on this issue, I do believe this can be over emphasized. We can't expect the worlds culture to be Christ like. The best way to lead someone is by example. I rarely bring up pants on women in our church and maybe I should teach on it more. Most of the time ladies follow along and mimic the models they have in the church.

I think that modesty is just as big an issue. A lot of young ladies may wear dresses and let their hair grow long, but they still dress in a way that is suggestive and draws attention contrary to what is taught in the scripture. Much of the reason why people dress, reveals the condition of their heart. Ladies should dress like modest ladies and men should dress like modest men.

While we might define "modest" differently, I can agree with the statement above.

I remember there was a discussion in the SCOTUS on what constitutes pornography or indecency. Justice Stewart said: "I know it when I see it."

I think that "modesty" and "immodesty" is much the same. When it comes down to it, one knows it when they see it, regardless of the clothing style.

Corey Maison, 15, who loves mascara and lip gloss, was born a boy.
“I always wanted to be a girl,” she said. “I was very girly when I was younger.”
Corey is one of five and her mother, born Erica, never felt comfortable in her female body. Erica transitioned to Eric.
“I definitely felt like I identified with boys but I didn't actually realize it was possible I could become one,” Eric told Inside Edition.
It wasn't until four years ago, when the two watched a TV special on transgender teen activist Jazz Jennings, that everything became clear.
“I said, ‘Wow, I’m just like her. I'm a girl trapped in a boy's body’,” Corey admitted.
Corey started taking puberty blockers at 11 to stop facial hair growth and the deepening of his voice.
“Just seeing her courage and bravery in the face of so much adversity, I think that's what ultimately gave me the courage to come out myself,” Eric said.
For Eric, the transition began with a short haircut. Then, the 39-year-old started injecting testosterone.
“My voice has gotten deeper, I’ve grown facial hair even though I shave it, more body hair, leg hair and my muscles are getting bigger,” he said.

Earlier this year, Eric had a double mastectomy.
“I felt like I was trapped in a woman's body and just that mastectomy made me feel free,” he said.
The transition has proved challenging for Les Maison, who is Corey’s father and Eric’s husband.
“It's difficult because I married this beautiful woman but I’m getting the opportunity to see someone become who they truly are,” he said.
As prom season looms across America, Corey and her family went and picked out a dress for the teen.

Aquila you allow yourself to be led by your culture, the world around you. It becomes the interpreter. You quote John 16:13, the Mormon quotes John 16:13, the Baha'i faith quotes John 16:13, Unitarian Universalist Church quotes John 16:13. All of you have amazingly different theologies. Yet, I'm talking about what scripture is saying about prophecy never having its origin in human will, but the prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were inspired by the Holy Ghost. That is the Apostle Peter interpreting John 16:13. You either listen and believe way too much NPR, or hold a carnality level of a 16 year old boy. As far as my remark concerning the Bronze Age? If you have any inkling of logic rolling around in your supposed liberal head, you would understand what I meant. Let me clarify, the Bronze Age was the time of the documents, manuscripts, and materials called the Old Testament. These were compiled by "holy" men moved by the Holy Ghost. These men were led by the Spirit of Truth. These men also were a remnant of the greater whole. Now, they dealt with their culture, a culture that didn't have (American as Mom's apple pie) Emma Bochwinkle and ILG to contend with. Deuteronomy 22:5 was needful to separate them from the other groups around them. The men of these writings wore bifurcated apparel under their extremely long robes. Girding up the loins as a MAN meant tightening the BELT that held up the bifurcated attire. Not swinging up a robe between one's legs so they could run? We have no indication of that ever happening. Yet, we are told about priests, 3 Hebrew men getting tossed into a barbeque, and Jesus riding a white horse of the Conqueror, all wearing pants. They "the Bronze Age" people would of easily understood this, yet the people of the 21st century who have to make excuses for the present day youth, and the Catlin Jenners of the world don't have the foggiest idea of what the verse or "verses" are talking about.

The whole spectrum of your Churchian faith is niceness, loveness, and political correctness. You live in Whiteness Nighborhoodness, call the poor Ghettoness. This makes you feel good, it enhances your Churchiness. You want to be father knows best in cargo shorts, Hiwian shirt, and Reeboks.

Jesus also has to move through that filter, and when He gets out the other side He is in your image. Your NPR inspired interpretation.

Geez.....of course the husband can't say anything without being called a bigot. Typical beta male.

The Bible is infallible. Our interpretations of it are not. The Holy Spirit will lead and guide us into greater understanding and more relevant insights for our time than the tired old opinions of men; men who feverishly cling to their frozen interpretations of Scripture like blessed idols, as the Spirit moves forward without them.

Yet, the above statement can be used by every different denomination. Yet, they stand opposed to you. The proof is in the pudding. Yet, sadly everyone believes they reinvented the wheel. All while they stamp the Jesus label across the back. If something is an abomination to God then it makes Him sick, if it is an abomination to you, then it makes you sick.
