Because if the excess is in the wine, Jesus and the apostles were in excess when they took the Lord’s supper. We certainly would not want to take communion with wine if the excess were in the wine.

It seems that the belief that the excess being in the wine, would be somewhat similar to the idea that the excess is in the food, (in the case of gluttony ).

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Why flirt with an anti-Spirit drink?

Re: Wine vs Grape Juice

Is the new wine a replacement for the old wine, or does the old wine compliment the new wine?

I’m not flirting. I’m saying that Jesus drank wine. So to argue against what Jesus did, and what the apostles did, seems odd to me. Not odd in a way that it is unusual, I understand that it happens all the time, but odd in a way that we try to justify it with scripture.

I can believe that you shouldn’t drink.

I don’t believe that you should teach against something (drinking) that Jesus did, and all of the apostles with Him.

Do you believe that God’s spirit left Jesus when He drank?

Exactly how many glasses of wine would Jesus need to drink before the Holy Ghost departed from Him?

This seems to be your line of reasoning.

Neither. They are not related. The old wine is a type, it is NOT replacement theology.

It is.

The verse contrasts wine drinking Vs Spirit infilling.
Now. We must find out how much wine undoes the Spirit infilling.

Shall we teach using something recreationally that can undo the Spirit Infilling?

And how many glasses of wine until we cannot be used in the Spirit?

Good, then drink the new wine and don't try to mix them.
