After several days getting my courage up, I called her and asked if she knew my adopted parents (she had stayed two weeks with them prior to my birth). She called me by my name and asked if it was me. An hour later, I was visiting her in her home, learning about my family and my 4 sisters. She also told me something she had never told anyone and that was who my father was. He was dead already but this info added another 4 brothers. This was 10 years ago and I have a very good relationship with 2 of my sisters, the others are not real interested in knowing me, which is alright. I have verified all of this with DNA testing and have traced the new family back to colonial times. In one day, I went from an only child to the oldest of nine. lol

I have contacted several members of both families and have good ties to numerous aunts, uncles, great uncles, and a great grand uncle. Have kept good ties with the adopted family and many relatives on that side. I got to know my birth mother for a year and a half before we lost her. I am very lucky to have a good ending which many adopted kids don't end up with. God has been good to me. I had given up on every finding the truth out.

There are too many missed opportunities because of secrecy born of covering appearance. I do hope you have reunited with your bio- family and gained some info as well as closure.

I see nothing to be ashamed about whatsoever. I'm not adopted but I remember my mother saying sometimes she couldn't believe any us 4 kids came from her and other choice words. She got over it. I know many adults that talk about being adopted.
