Just another king who forgot he was supposed to be a shepherd.

1 Chronicles 28:2-3 KJV
Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me , I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord , and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building: [3] But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood.

1 Chronicles 22:7-10 KJV
And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the Lord my God: [8] But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight. [9] Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about : for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days. [10] He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.

Do you see it as the blood he shed was from Uriah? Or from the bloody wars he was apart of?

Re: Can/Should Christians Be Democrats?
Don’t get me wrong, I believe he was judged for the murder of Uriah, and the Bible says that shame (adultery) will not be wiped away. Yet, was he unable to build the temple because of that?
Also are we in Gods favor if we go off and kill another human being in the name of “liberty”? In today’s terms, are those from Iraq, Iran, Russia, China etc... that are threatening our democracy, are they really our enemies?

The shed blood abundantly is Uriah's blood was the sealer.
The murder of Uriah was the overflowing of the cup. Things got hotter after the murder of Uriah. Because it wasn't only Uriah who was murdered that day, also servants of David were killed with him. All David's decisions under David's orders. So, what was the curse that came upon David? "Now therefore, the SWORD SHALL NEVER DEPART FROM YOUR HOUSE, because you have despised Me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’ Thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I WILL RAISE UP ADVERSITY AGAINST YOU FROM YOUR OWN HOUSE; and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, before the sun.’ ” David's bloody reign would start and he will kill his own son Absalom. Uriah's murder would bring David's own flesh and blood to supplant him, and cause devastating civil war. Everything goes down hill from there.
Remember 2 Samuel 11:1 states that the spring time was the time when kings go out to battle. So war was a duty of the king, any king. But David allowed that king's crown to go to his head, and forget the staff of a shepherd. Therefore God brought down a curse upon David, one that would bring bloody war to his own home, with brother pitted against brother.

You'll look it up?
Esaias quoted the passage.
