My last experience with programming was with a Commodore 64 I got off a friend of mine! Heheeeeeeeeeeeee! That was a fun computer!
Seriously, what I'd like to do is eventually write programs specifically for individual businesses. Guys that can do that sort of thing basically write their own ticket at companies. Not that I am necessarily money hungry, but I am seriously in need of a way out of poverty and my family is counting on me. I, in turn, am counting on the Lord! Ha! Can I get witness?

I got my "office" moved downstairs just fine. I even got the cable hooked up to my little 13 tv I watch when I am sitting at the computer! That is a nice bonuse to being downstairs! I worked the night time call taking thing for a couple of nights and decided to just go back to working a regular bricks and mortar kind of job. It must have been God's will cause I found a job in one day! I put in one application and got that job! LOL! It's working nights doing some of the kind of work I have done in the past to make ends meet. Nothing to brag about, but it will pay the bills while I am finishing my degree!
Yup! I started my classes yesterday! I about freaked out when I finally went to my "classroom" and took a look at everything I will have to do. in fact, I almost backed out of it, but my admissions counselor got me calmed down. Apparently, freaking out on day one is a pretty common occurance! LOL!
So, I am off on my journey to earn a bachelor's degree in IT. My goal is to specialize in software engineering, (programming, for those of us born before microwaves and computers became commonplace in American homes!) Hopefully, having this job, doing something I have done in the past already and know how to do, will help make the journey a pleasant one for me. I feel pretty good at how things have worked themselves out, thank you Jesus!

"Basically" (pun intended) you were writing in basic if you were writing for a Commodore 64!
I am on the system design side of things!
BTW... congratulations on your blessing!

I'm on the network side of things too, but have had to write some pretty complex login scripts in my day. lol.
Good luck Rico... if you are interested in it and learn to live and breathe the stuff then you will get good at it. I've let my certifications lapse because I'm tired of learning a new operating system every two years and I am not as hands-on anymore anyway.
