Help Me With My New York City Vacation
I am leaving for NYC tomorrow with my wife and two teenage kids. We
plan on seeing a Broadway production while we are there. We are needing
to pick from one that would be family friendly and that has discount tickets
available. A few shows that have discount ticket available are as follows,
please give your opinion if you have ever seen any of these shows:
Les Miserables
The Phantom of the Opera
Mama Mia
Tarzan
Thanks for your help

I have seen both Les Mis and Phantom... either of them would be suitable and enjoyable. I lean toward Les Mis.

Thanks for the input. I can get discount tickets for Les Miserables at about
$56 per ticket for orchestra level. Normal price is $110 per ticket. I never
realized how high tickets to a Broadway production were.

I've heard that Mama Mia is a little less "kid friendly", but I haven't seen it, so I don't know. My kids have always loved "Beauty and the Beast" and we've seen it twice. "Les Mis" is awesome, but is over 3 hours long, if I remember right--the age of your kids might make a difference. "Phantom" is good too; we saw it in London. There are a few parts that could be a little scary if your kids are really small.

Don't forget...you can stand in line at TKTS in Times Square on the day of the show and get half price tickets. Sometimes the lines are long, but it's worth it. They don't have every show available, so you have to look at their boards. It opens at 3 pm for tickets for the 8 pm shows, I think. It opens like 9 am for the Wed. and Sat. matinee tickets.

Tarzan will be the best for kids f you can get past a man with no shirt!!! I hear the production and stunts are amazing.
I have seen other Disney productions and I loved them.
Although, funny, my favorite was, "Annie Get Your Gun".

They are renovating, the TKTS booth is currently located at the Times Square Marriott, right across from the old booth.

Thanks, didn't know that.
By the way, "Annie Get Your Gun" is one of my favorites too. I don't know if it's still playing though; I haven't looked to see lately what's on.

I'm in New York City. I arrived last night. My kids are teenagers, so I think
they are old enough to enjoy Les Miserables. We had a good time today.
We did one of the double decker bus tours. We visited Madam Troussard's
Wax Museum, which is really awesome. It is amazing how lifelike many of
these figures are. Also, we went up on the Empire State building's observatory deck. That was really nice. It is an awesome view. Also, we
visited Ground Zero. Our hotel is almost directly across the street. (We are
staying in the Embassy Suites)
