Asking me "do you EVEN believe in giving tithes"

The operative word here is "EVEN" and it suggests that you've already expressed your opinion/judgement that I dont believe in giving tithes...and so it seems that would sooth your mind....

...it's a feeble attempt at trying to "corner" me....

I believe that a pastor should have a salary with benefits just like everyone else. Now if the congregation wants to pay the pastor that much, that is different, but I don't think the pastor should do anything less than full disclosure to the people annually of where ALL the money was spent and exactly how much he makes. I have personally done that for for almost 2 decades and have NEVER had a problem.

Truth sets people free and financial truth engenders much TRUST. When things are hidden, there is usually a reason and not a good one.

How many other pastors think this way? I wonder if this is a topic that most pastors are afraid to express their opinion on.... "don't mess with the bread and butter" topic... In light of that, I admire MOW's full disclosure approach and not being fearful of it!

So, most who visit, simply do not stick around. However, there is one member, Daddi Warbux, of this small congregation that earns $80 million annually. Should Daddi be tithing $8 million a year (10%) to this church and should Joe Preacher live as a millionaire as a result of this one person's tithing?

What say ye?
I haven't read the thread, but if I were this pastor, I would make sure that the rich guy pays off gross instead of net. This will net me 8 mil instead 4 mil.

I would take all of the tithe, but I would give generously to pay the utilities for our small church building. In fact, I might let go of a half mil to build a new church. I would pay out of my pocket to have a golf course built on the church property, which I would play on everyday as a ministry to the lost golfers in our city.

I would brag to my fellow pastors in my section/district that I personally pay all the bills at my small church. After service at campmeeting, I would call my chauffer to bring my limo for the ride home!

Jroc,

I'm not a lawyer. Consider it poor wording.

Whether you give tithes or not is none of my business. Take it up with the Lord. He will help you know where your tithes should go. Your the one who started the thread. I wanted to know where you stood. You can apply whatever motive you like to my words, but when you say I'm trying to 'corner ' you or 'marginalize' you, you would be wrong.

Don't show me the money....show me the scriptures.
