At the game the Cubs shortstop, Paul Popovich, hit a grand slam home run and the Cubs won!! That was one of the greatest days of my childhood life!
I would love to see another game when I'm ever in the Chicago area.
Now I have season tickets to the Titans, and really enjoy seeing them play. It's the one thing outside of church and work that I enjoy doing the most! In fact, I give up my golfing to go see the Titans!

I got in a bit of a polarized discussion over at another forum board when I dwelled on the idea that a core appeal in football is the delivery of violence into the weaker opponent.
Does anyone think football (American) would hold the position it does in our psyche without the administration of being a voyeristic seat at a good "fight"?

I always thought organized sports was evil because it tends to bring out the exhibitionists
Here he comes, boogie-dy, boogie-dy
There he goes, boogie-dy, boogie-dy
And he ain't wearin' no clothes
Oh yes, they call him the streak
Fastest thing on two feet
He's just as proud as he can be
Of his anatomy
He's gonna give us a peek
Oh yes, they call him the streak
He likes to show off his physique
If there's an audience to be found
He'll be streakin' around
Invitin' public critique...

I just read the first part of this thread, so if this has already been said, please forgive me. To say that you don't want kids to participate in organized sports because of recent scandals is like saying you don't want them to be pastors because of people like Ted Haggard, Jimmy Swaggart, etc. There are good and bad examples in every field.
Organized sports in our town were some of the best things my kids participated in. They were home schooled part of their lives, so sports was a way to have them socially involved. They were good examples to other kids, and we met so many people, and some of those people came to church and are now full of the Holy Ghost!! We would never have met them unless we spent time at the ballpark.

with organized sports having so much heritage extending from the Greek Olympiad, the whole wrestling naked does seem to support your exhibitionist POV.

The first time I heard that view presented was by rrford on NFCF.
I think you are correct tbpew. Don't preach too hard though, cause I really, really love football!
