BUZZARD
If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6' x 8' and is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of 10-12'. Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top.
BAT
The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkably nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly and painfully until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash.
BUMBLEBEE
A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys itself.
PEOPLE
In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat and the bumblebee. We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look up. Sorrow looks back, worry looks around, but faith looks up. Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and trust in our Creator who loves us.
May your troubles be less, your blessings more, and may nothing but happiness come through your door.

Sis. Esther,
This is SO good! What is profound is the bolded. Our Wonderful Savior,
Jesus Christ, was our example . Compare that One Solitary Life to the
bolded words for comparison.
To be like JESUS, to be like JESUS.
On earth I long to be like Him.
All through life's journey, from earth to glory,
I only ask, to be like Him.
Do we really! Do we really want to live and be like Jesus.
Compare our lives with His while on earth and see if we
really do want to be like Him. No place to lay His Head!
He was the Father's House on earth. He carried within HIS
bosom the Father (Spirit, God, Deity) What an awesome
responsibility. Are we carrying within our bosom the same
Spirit (Father,God, Deity) today! Are we One with the Father
and/in the Son. Jesus prayed for that! That His disciples would
be one as He and the Father was one. Read the 17th chapter
of John.
Blessings,
Falla39

Interesting thread. I deal with Chimney Swifts in my business. They are the only bird that can fly straight up or down enabling them to nest in hollow trees or chimneys.
It is a federal crime to remove nesting Chimney Swifts. (Migratory Bird Act)

I think I've seen buzzards fly without taking a run first...lol.... Ones that are in the road eating something when you are driving toward them, they take off from where they are.... Maybe it's a different kind of buzzard...lol
