Am I the only one here who is not understanding at all what this thread is in regards to?? I've never heard of the MMORPG Movement. And then when it is explained what the letters stand for, I can't see what that has to do with the decreases in church memberships of different organizations??

Please tell me I am not losing my mind!!
Your not losing your mind. The subject of this thread could just as easily been entitled "Church attendance and the upcoming NFL season" or "Church attendance and money spent on new stadiums", etc.

By the way, I have yet to play any online role playing game but am not against the idea.... maybe someday when I actually have 12 hours a day (or more) to devote to it. Like never?

I have some friends who play Guild Wars. You have to buy the game but there is no monthly subscription. There was a recent study, interestingly enough, that said 60% of MMORPG have active social lives. I'll have to look it up.

No, they aren't.... but I had to make the first post mysterious enough that it would draw attention....

it may not be an "organized movement" but it certainly is a "cultural trend" especially in the "tech-minded" younger generations....

Would you even know what a "LAN party" is? or what that means?

ABSOLUTELY 100% CORRECT!!!!

The whole point is that if church attendence is dropping because people don't feel apart of the church family and/or are losing interest due to dead church/lack of vision.... then something is wrong....

the MMORPG reference only shows that people "in masses" will buy into something that is able to keep their "interest".... with some people it's the upcoming NFL or basketball season.... with others it's the latest TV show....
or a new hobby or weekend fishing/hunting....

the whole underlining point.... we gotta have AWESOME church!!! God needs to show up mightily and peoples lives need to be impacted!!! If thats not happening all the time in our churches, we're just dying and more people will leave our pews and give their time and attention to something else....
