Some of the usernames in place are users who said they would leave, and did not. I am ok with someone posting with a nickname instead of a real name. This is not to reveal some usernames. I would hope no Admin Team member would ever do this.
So can I come back on here as "Liberal" and blast away?
Can I come on here as "TeleEvangelist" and belittle and ridicule?
If I were to use an alter ego, how long until you would find me out from my posting and language use?
What do you think?
This is the thread Thad would not start.
Just my thoughts- I have seen a couple of posters that upon reflection were probably "alter-egos" of another. If I picked up on that, then I was certain others who aren't as generally clueless as I am would have seen it as obvious.
I'm comfortable with the way things are. Can the system be abused? Sure, for a short time. Then the admins have come in and sweep up the mess. The alternative would be something less fun for the general user. And remember, this is supposed to be fun. Let's not take ourselves too seriously.
On the other hand, it should also be spiritually supportive and educational in a meaningful way.
So, like boxers getting ready for the title fight, we throw ourselves against the ropes to get a feel for the boundaries of the ring before squaring off...
I am just completely thankful that I have been extremely respectful and intelligent with my alter ego... otherwise someone may have figured out who I really am....

Boom...these people who have alter egos...does the admin team know by the IP who they really are?
IF they looked, yes.
That was not the intent of this thread and ....
I almost used an alter ego to start it.
I posted in post 1 the revelation maliciously of a username would be wrong.
Anomyous nicks have always been a mainstay. They can be fun. ONE poster who has not been here in a long while is unmistakable with the dry wit and word choice used.
To come here and put someone down is simply wrong. :sshhh

If someone like PP does not reveal his real name for purposes of expressing opinions, or like another poster who doesn't wish their views to reflect on family members, I say go for it.
If a poster wishes to post something under another name to make a point and not reflect on their known standing here, I am fine with that.
But to change a username for the sake of ridicule and because they think they can, I find it insulting and unfair.
I agree. I have used alter-ego's in the past on all the other forums, but only to talk about a subject that under my current nick I was uncomfortable in doing.
I don't think someone should sign under another nick to ridicule others.

There they can find plenty of fault.
I misread this question. I thought it said, "Are alter egos" wrong? I didn't notice the "to put others down". Putting anyone down is wrong. My comments are not made to do that - just to reveal truth.
