my church pays good - at least the times I knew what they were being paid. i was like woooow!
I think that a full time evangelist who has to leave family, travel, really seeks the face of God and has Results should be paid greatly.they paid a pdear price that cannot truely be repaid monetarily. So that;s the least we can do to be a blessing Back to those who have paid a price to break into the spiritual relm. laity will never understand the wear and tear ministry has just on the body alone.
There have been a number of times we took up an offering to bless a missionary or evangelist and it was just for one night or one sunday. I blieve it was well over $2000. however, please understand, these people have weeks at a time when they have NO income at all. they often have families too.
trust me, UPC evangelist are NOT getting rich from evangelizing! in fact, a lot times they are starving and coming off the field!

I'm sure that's true. Others might think...what? $150 for 1 hour of preaching???? Shows some cluelessness...LOL.
I know some evangelists who won't go unless its a certain price...simply because they actually can't afford it, unless they are going to be reimbursed. Otherwise, they'd get to the town, and not have enough gas money to make it home.

There is a story I heard once about an evangelist. A pastor called him to come preach a one week revival for him. Anyway, the evangelist wasted no time in informing the pastor that unless he would agree to pay him $750 there was no way he would waste his time. The pastor put the phone down and said to his secretary, loud enough for the evangelist to hear, "Sister, Bro. So and So says he won't come unless we meet his demand for $750! Do you think I should tell him the minimum we pay is $1500?"

My first pastor used to say he remembered as an evangelist they'd be "lucky" if they got anything at all. Sometimes they got a sack of apples. Other times a chicken

- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.

that is true but the way of life was a lot different then. today, both parents usually have to work just to pay the bills. health insurance alone is enough to make most families go broke

If I have means, I will always take care of a speaker, it says alot about who we are and will cause the word to spread that we are a church that values its speakers.

Bro Keith
This seems a very reasonable fair amount to me.

I don't ever ask for a certain amount, but if I go out of my way to visit a Church and then they don't take care of me I won't go out of my way to visit them again.
**disclaimer** I'm not talking about a home missions church who is does the best they can, I'm talking about a Church who just doesn't take care of their visiting ministers.

I pay expenses plus at least 300 a service, we try to do better than that but that's the minimum that i'd pay for a service. Some people get paid more but it's based on, #1 do we have more to give #2 If God moves on me/us to give extra

from my first hand perspective, your Church pays real well
That's why I keep telling your Pastor I'm available ANYTIME he needs me

We have an Evangelist that comes to preach for us that asks that he be allowed to pick up his own offering.
Our Church obviously pays his expenses and then he picks up his offering the last night.
He says, "If I pick up $200 I won't complain, but if I pick up $2000 then YOU don't complain" lol It's always on the higher say
