I congratuated him on a good number receiving bible salvation. Still, I have some difficulties with all of this as you might guess, since I am basically a conservative, though some of my conservative friends may think otherwise judging on some of the things that I write here. Oh Well!

Yes many Jesus name assemblies get people started in truth of acts 2:38.Then many go on their way of truth.I started out in UPC in 1970 but left real soon as the Holy Ghost taught me full holiness.Sad to say though that most leave UPC for the worse or less holiness.

1 Peter 3:3: Whose adorning( Dressing) let it not be that outward adorning( Dressing) of plaiting the hair, (Interweaving and knotting of the hair) and of wearing of gold,(Expensive things) or of putting on of (expensive) apparel
1 Tim.2:9: In like manner also, that women adorn (Dress) themselves in modest (descent, not extreme) apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array

Actually, the church I attend dresses more modestly than the last two UPCI churches I attended. You can be extreme on both ends...too made up, and not made up enough. Holiness does not equal holiness.

Either way ... there's still time to convert you ... I will try while we enjoy our steaks ....
I sure wish well-reasoned and tolerant men like you would have prevailed in 1992 .... we would have avoided what will happen in Sept ...
but that's spilled milk and the balance will come ...

The word saved is the same as delievered.Being saved or delievered starts with acts 2;38 but the word teaches some bring fruit 30,60 and 100 fold. After acts 2;38 we began to be perfected.Being perfected is being more saved or delievered.
Luke8:[11] Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.[12] Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.[13] They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.[14] And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.[15] But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience
Math.13:[18] Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.[19] When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.[20] But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;[21] Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.[22] He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.[23] But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty
2 Cor.7:1: Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
1 John 2:5: But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
1 John4:12: No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
1 John 2:1: My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 3:And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments
Eph:4:11: And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;12: For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ
13:Till we all come in the unity (ONE) of the FAITH, and of the KNOWLEDGE of the Son of God, unto a PERFECT man, unto the MEASURE of the STATURE of the FULLNESS of Christ:

Paul is not referring to clothes, the church was full of sexual perversion. Our holiness in in Christ.

That perfect man was Jesus, thats what Paul is saying. You can't be perfect regardless how hard you try. Don't misinterpret the scripture, he tells you what he is saying...unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. When we dwell in Christ, we are made righteous through Him!
