A bit interesting here.....the church I used to attend took UPC off their sigh and changed their name, and I really wonder why that is....I think if your proud to be UPC you want it out there for everyone to see....just one more sign things are not good in the organization.....

I used to think that as well... it even bothered me when our church changed it's name from First United Pentecostal to Capital Community Church.
I've realized since then, that it really doesn't matter what name your church goes by, that's only a legality. What matters is what is taught behind the doors and what the church is doing beyond it's four walls to reach the lost of that city.

I think being "proud" to be UPC is a waste of pride... if you're going to be proud of anything, be proud of Jesus.

While we have a AOG pastor/poster here, I would like to know if the latest stats of only 40-45% of AOG members actually claim the HG with tongues as evidence is true?

See, had I been visiting a place and looking for a oneness church, "United Pentecostal Church" would be one of the first things I look for simply because I know what they believe. Now, had it been Capital Community Church, I would have passed it by. (Not trying to be rude or anything here) How would one find out if y'all are oneness or not? I don't think a name has much to do with anything except for identifying oneself.

Anytime I see a "UPC church", "Jesus Name Apostolic church" I might feel safe visiting that church.......

Keith, it is interesting you should mention that.

I have a friend here at work who is a faithful church goer. Their church is your typical run of the mill, non-denoinational triniarian pentecostal kind of church that doesnt put any real priority on HGB.

Anyway, the AOG has been courting the pastor, and I believe they are going to join the AOG.

My friend told me, the AOG is "moving away" from the necesity of the Holy Ghost baptism (which he thinks is a good thing).

evidently that was brought up in the conversation with this pastor by the AOG leadership he has been talking to.

I agree with you there... I guess the point could be made, we aren't really here for the visiting Oneness people, so much as for the community in which we live...

We're also a church that believes strongly in one on one soul winning.. neighbours, co-workers, doctors, cashiers... that sort of thing. So we don't rely on people coming in because of what the church sign says. Seeing as the average joe doesn't know what UPCI believes.

After reviewing some of the posts in this thread for the first time, I guess all OP churchs should be called

"The evil Anti-Christ/No Cross Church of selfish man made standards"

would that make everyone happy?

In my educated Opinion the AOG mainline churches have been becoming more Evangelical in their practice. I think the rural churches look more Pentecostal but it is clear in their Bible Colleges and Seminary they are looking more Evangelical.
