I have to laugh when you mentioned the paper with just scriptures... I remember one night my husband came home from work with a napkin full of scriptures and so being the good wife I was back then I typed them all up for him and printed out that piece of paper and handed it to him and said here... now I am gonna get rid of this napkin so it doesnt get destroyed,........ OH WAS THAT EVER THE WRONG ANSWER!!!!!!!! so I let him do his thing and remembered to never ever ever think of throwing away one of those napkins with JUST scriptures on it as it was greek to me and it contained about 5 sermons in what looked like to me just a few lines of scribble.... geesh what do I know??? LOL

Oh my word!!! lol I have found napkins and small ripped pieces of paper and such with many of sermons on them...... Sometimes my husband will get a message while driving and just write it on anything he can get! lol that is funny.! Of course, I don't know they are sermons because they don't say much of anything. There'll be some phrase or saying on it. I used to not think anything of it but after 12 years of marriage, I know now!

I Use notes that prompt me to talk or speak more extensively on a part of my sermon.

Hello All....
I guess I'll be the first woman (I think) to post about my notes. I used outlines because I just cant go word-for-word notes. I tried. But God, with His great sense of humor, changed my message right as I got up to the pulpit.
And I get the Napkin. Although, mine tend to be either on a tissue (very hard to write on) or my "Palm pilot" aka= my hand. My husband just laughs at me sometimes when he sees me diggin for the pen. He knows I'm on a mission.

My late father had a interesting way of note preparation that involved cutting and pasting and using high lites. He said that after he had finished writing a sermon he had prepared it well enough so that several years down the road he could pull it out and preach it with minimal study. Very methodical and he used to listen and critique his own sermons. I've got thousands of his notes.

Whatever you do keep those notes safe. They are a treasure and valuable!
